I ended up wiring everything I could in the house, including streaming devices, consoles PCs, etc. The APs are basically only handling phones, tablets and some wifi IoT switches (matter over WiFi) to my home Assistant. Everything else is wired. I could not be happier. 11 PoE cameras, my wife almost had a heart attack when she saw that invoice 🤣

Yes, they can. Every computing device has an ID similar to Windows GDID. You can see yours in Linux with “cat /etc/machine-id”. If I am not mistaken, it changes when you install another distros, but I’ve never checked. Now, since there is a machine ID, using Microsoft services are highly likely to grab that ID, but I am not certain that would happen, I’m just guessing it does, because Microslop. In any case, my suggestion is to remain away from any big tech bullshit as much as your needs will allow.

On the flip side I think it’s good that they shit on Microslop regularly and steer their audience towards Linux. With such a huge ‘normie’ audience, they are helping introduce those normies to the existence of alternative operating systems and apps. Their videos can have momenta that make me smork (either because of something titanically stupid or something clownish). Additionally, I’ve seen some videos of them that have alerted to new projects, hardware or even situations in the tech environment (which I then research in other places, of course).
