depends on what it was for lol.

way to out yourself as an unsophisticated, sheltered suburbanite.

child molester or abuser = no way

any rich people crime, like embezzling = no way

drug crimes other than crack, heroin, meth? who cares…

    anything else = whatever.

rather date a murderer than a yuppie.

  • imagine taking food advice from an AI when it can’t taste anything.

imagine having NO SENSES. not taste, not smell, not whatever the other ones are–absolutely none of them. you can’t eat a chicken finger because you have no mouth and you’ve never existed in the 3D world we call reality.

but you’re taking advice on recipes from this AI.

billionaires consider this reasonable because they’ve never done anything for themselves. it’s reasonable to them when the butler says some outrageous shit like, 'your mom’s pussy juice would taste really good on this rare steak.

zuckerberg was in college but you know he never mingled like a normal person. if i saw that guy in real life i’d either laugh or run screaming.

i met a few people like elon musk in real life but they worked bottle return and were mentally challenged. the few times i tried to talk to one of those people they replied ‘brzoooooom’ and i pretended to understand what they were saying and dipped out.

hey, man. i’m a gen-xer drinking lime beer and watching 90s general hospital episodes on youtube.

lemme lay it down for you, youngin’.

pokeman is lame. memes are lame. drinking alcoholic beverages without alcohol is lame. naming an alcoholic beverage without alcohol a ‘mocktail’ is lame.

your entire generation is composed of 90% plastic from soda bottles and the other 10% is from social media propaganda. you don’t want to poison yourselves lol.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA.

    any questions?

  • drawing attention to that is cool, i guess, but doesn’t shed light on the underlying issue.

america loves victim blaming the individual rather than ever admitting that there’s some kind of issue with the system or wealthy people.

every single house in america could be built on the edge of a cliff prone to landslides and someone would always come out of the woodwork to act like it’s your own fault you bought it.

‘shoulda lived in a shopping cart.’

  • i’m a painter who doesn’t paint. i’m a writer who doesn’t write.

what do you actually do, says the skeptic.

i’m a prompt artisan, says the creator of this ‘art.’

so, you just type text into a box?

    yes.

but when i type artist into google it spits me back this definition: "a person who creates art, such as painting, writing, music, or sculpture, using conscious skill and creative imagination.’ you aren’t creating anything–the AI is the creator. at best, you’re just influencing what they create with words.

    whatever.

so, if i fuck an artist and tell him that his song would be better in B minor, then i’m a creator?

    whatever.

  • why do we need remasters before the next installment of a game?

between super mario 64 and super mario world we got super mario rpg. nowadays we have to wait until 12 of our daughters get married to play a new title in the series when we started playing the game in elementary school.

would it have really killed the gta/fallout franchise owners to spend a few bucks to create a half-assed in between title? they would have generated massive income even if those games sucked.

  • i wonder what the cultural vibe is in countries that view art with reverence.

people in america aren’t looking at the bigger picture–this country has NEVER cared about art or artists.

is jazz on pop radio? does your average american give a shit about impressionism or even know what the fuck it is?

so, why would they care about the average novelist? does your typical american even fucking read?

  • sharks play into man’s fear of nature, and regardless of the reality of shark attacks, the plot is going to seem reasonable. man can’t control nature. oohhh, scary.

a killer car film is generally going to require some supernatural element and then be accused of being ‘schlocky’ or ‘so bad it’s good,’ like in this thread. if you’re killed by a car, most people would consider it someone’s fault–either the pedestrian or one of the drivers, and an 80 year old with poor eyesight doesn’t make for a good horror film.

i guess you could make some silly a24 ‘arthouse’ film called ‘the passenger.’ it would be about a sane passenger in a car driven by an increasingly reckless driver that builds up to a life-altering crash. it could answer questions about ‘why didn’t they just ask to be let out?’

what is this even trying to say? that people who kayak or canoe have illusions of grandeur? understood. even stating that childhood dreams are crushed by capitalism is trite.

i wanted to be a beautiful woman who was a covergirl on an issue of sassy magazine and look where that got me. i’m just another 40 year old man who wears pink dresses when they’re shitposting on lemmy because they got banned from reddit for telling someone on their local board that they were ‘a delusional gentrifying yuppie.’

join the fucking club on being disillusioned.

    of course you don’t.

it’s just illustrating why math is useless beyond the basics. this is something that every 6th grader figures out on their own but is then lectured by math nerds on how wrong they are. the same sorts of people who insist that we’ll leave the solar system sometime in the next 34093840348 years because of math.

the same people who design doors on a tesla that can’t be opened in normal circumstances and roast passengers in raging infernos.

that’s all math, and none of it it funny unless you’re laughing at math.

  • if you take away their wealth what have most of these celeb billionaires accomplished? zuck created a website that got popular that wasn’t even the first of its kind. it was just popular…

and if it disappeared tomorrow i wouldn’t give two fucks. humanity survived for thousands of years without facebook and instagram and it hasn’t been a benefit to society. it didn’t solve a problem that needed to be solved–we already had myspace and photobucket and the local classified ads.

why are we treating rich people like celebrities just for being rich, especially ones who don’t impact your life in any positive way? that’s the real issue.

i never knew who the CEO or creator of gillette was even though i shave my face every day. that guy deserves more recognition.

the objects in mirror may be closer than they appear fucks with me. my family ran a junkyard, and as a child/teen, i was always hanging out within its borders and exploring old cars and trucks for treasure. that form of the phrase is burned in my memory. you’ll never convince me it wasn’t something that existed.

i was taught to spell dilemma as dilemna too, but that may be explainable. it’s not like every old textbook from the 80s is on annasarchive.

media was at least owned by dozens or hundreds of separate entities that all had different viewpoints and agendas and would employ more people with working class pedigrees.

oldschool issues of seventeen magazine have more wokeness in them than what people complain about nowadays. that was a national coffee table publication read by millions of teen girls.

in 2026, there’s no resistance whatsoever other than internet chatter that doesn’t amount to fuck all. i don’t even mean resistance that matters but at least someone who writes for a national publication who’ll rip into a tv show or film and call it whiny, out of touch yuppie bullshit.

our entire culture has been gentrified.
