Yes but I’m sure you need at least 5 different Volts for it to work.

I love the passive aggressive ones that say “we love our European visitors” only to block all access to the site because they’re not allowed to sell our data.

IANAL but there should be no need to ask consent to know when users quit the signup process. You need to say that you use cookies, yes, but unless you process personally identifiable data there is no need for informed consent.

Remember puppy linux sitting on one floppy?

The word “duh” comes to mind.
I think about the term “single point of failure” very often these last years.
Oh, another one: Syberia 1 and the 4th The World Before. They are point-and-click adventure games.
Siberia 2 is also good but IMO weaker than the first. The third is pretty bad.
Unfortunately Syberia 1 does not work well on modern systems. There is a remake which is a mixed bag. It went too far with adding helper features and changing some puzzles, but the camera and visuals are good.
When it comes to atmosphere and immersion, nothing beats Gothic 1 for me. The original from 2001 has very dated graphics and janky controls, but its immersion is unparalleled.
I have not tried the remake, but have heard mostly positive signals about it.
Another one that impressed me with immersion - mostly in its lack of UI and definitely its sound design - is Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Use headphones!

Isn’t that one of the new games? I mean it’s called “Return”! I remember when Wolfenstein was 2D sprites and paper thin walls.
That’s how you breed scrubs who can’t M-x-butterfly. I say give them a distro that boots into vi and starts a background process that block internet access around them. If they manage to quit vi and kill the daemon, they’re ready for Linux.

I am currently paying through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and I have a love/hate relationship with it. On the one hand the story, the acting, the visuals, … are all top notch. However, they also made it impossible to play as assassin - even more so than in Origins. The protagonist constantly reminds the player to stay hidden, but then none of the bigger targets are killable in one hit. Having to use an assassination hit once, and then hide until they forget you, is no fun. Especially if you need to do that 5+ times for one enemy. Some of the later game skills help, but it’s still more fighting than assassinating. In an AC game. It sucks.
Even worse, there are a ton of scripted fights, where you simply cannot do assassinations. Open a door in a cut scene and immediately get jumped by five guys. Kill a whole camp and sneak up to the boss, only to start a cut scene where you brazenly and openly challenge him. It sucks.
But then there’s an emotional reunion or a cool side quest, and it’s all good again. Until the next fight.

Counterpoint: Apple used (uses?) a lot of GPL code as well, but their “giving back” was so perfunctory that the community didn’t incorporate most of it.
Big companies will always find ways to skirt what is allowed in ways that benefits them alone.

You’re getting downvoted, but I’m in the exact same position. Car made in 2021, no connectivity at all. I cannot start it remotely - why would you do that? Is it really more convenient than turning a key or pressing a button once seated? I guess people really do like it, I just find it hard to imagine.
Starting the climate control from a distance sounds comfortable, the first few moments of driving can be too hot or cold.
I don’t have a built-in GPS, but if there was one I don’t see a benefit of using my phone to control it.
Windows? What?

vehicle … cloud
Flying cars sure turned out differently than we imagined in sci-fi.

McAfee has always been more of an advertising application than antivirus. A free version would constantly try to scare you into buying it. A paid version always reminds you that you could be paying more to clean your PC, including showing perfectly normal settings as “potentially unwanted“. Even if you pay for all the bells and whistles, you’ll need to click away constant reminders of how good a job it is doing at protecting you.
But, to be fair, the other big names do exactly the same.
“You want the pizza to taste the same every single time.”
No. You want it tasting great. And that means fresh ingredients, which the cook knows well enough to vary their proportions compared to the others.
