When heavy rain filled the underground den where her seven puppies were trapped, their mom dove into the water while animal advocate Edineia Florgomes helped widen the opening and bail out water.

One by one, the determined mama carried all seven puppies to safety, and the entire family is now healthy and doing well while Florgomes plans to find them loving homes when they’re ready.

Moms will do crazy things for their kids. I used to work at a flax straw processing facility. Often in the straw you would come across mice and other critters that have nested in there, from bees to raccoons to foxes.

While loading large round bales onto a semi trailer with a Prentice (logging crane), a momma mouse and 7 or 8 pink little babies fell out of the bale and onto the trailer deck. Momma was visibly freaking out trying to collect them, as they weren’t old enough to move on their own. I climbed down out of the Prentice and onto the deck to move them, and Mom kept getting in between me and the babies to try and protect them. This tiny little mouse momma was ready to take on a 6 ft 190 pound mountain (in relation to her tiny size) to save them, despite having absolutely no chance in hell. I can’t imagine how scary that would have been for her, it’s like if we were attacked by a sentient skyscraper.

I had gloves on so I scooped up mom and her babies with some loose straw and put them off in a corner of the field where they wouldn’t get run over. Any critter that is willing to fight for her kids beyond all odds deserves the chance to live in my book.

Yeah, no, the dog with the white scruff is a different dog from the video in the linked article.

It’s definitely a different dog from the one in the video. I’m guessing it’s just an error.

I don’t think it’s an error so much as they just grabbed a stock photo of a street dog. It’s credited to Getty.

In the linked article, the dog isn’t circled. My guess is someone wanted a photo of “generic street dogs” and someone else made the assumption it was the same dog, then it got fixed after the circled-dog image was cached on Lemmy.
