Panel 3: they’re pretty far apart now
Panel 4: one duck turns around to the other and fires a pistol. The other duck sinks to the bottom.

Yeah blame the artist for that one. I legit considered changing it to just “Duck” but I prefer to stick to what the artist picks.
TBF, so does the comic itself. The panels are so short that the 4th panel in your peripheral spoils everything as you’re looking at the first two.
Luckily I didn’t saw so I was delightfully surprised as I didn’t expected it but, yes, it totally ruins it otherwise.
