I am having the worst time with Jellyfin and getting started. I downloaded everything that was needed, got the account made and all that. However, two issues: 1- can’t get Jellyfin to find my folders for music or videos, and 2- can’t seem to login with a different device to engage in streaming. I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. Help?

Do you know about permissions in folders? Does the owner of the Jellyfin process have access to these folders?
- Did you configure the libraries correctly?
- Did you give the user that the app is running under access to the folders with the videos and music?
- What are the file types your trying to scan?

What os are you running it on? Windows or Linux? If on Linux what are you running under? Regular setup or docker? Other?
I would install it with docker (moreover docker compose) preferably. Easier to maintain and troubleshot. Anyway, for 1, make sure jellyfin has the rights to see your video and music folders. For 2, are you trying to do it from the same network or from outside?
There are packages in the normal repositories; no need to use AUR:

…although I do notice there’s no jellyfin-web package (which is avaiable in archlinux).
As a rule, using AUR has caveats. We’d also need to know which AUR packages you are using to give advice there.
Are you running it in docker?

I’d bet your host PC’s firewall is blocking the connections from other devices on your network. Otherwise, you’re sure you’re pointing them at the host IP:port correctly?
Have you tried using sudo? /s
