    • Each major update further pollutes the currency pool that had no signs of slowing down or being better found in game.

    • the wiki is absolutely the most precise and complete wiki I’ve ever seen for any game. If you have a question about anything, you can find the answer in the wiki. And the devs lean into it too heavily. There are entire game modes that are completely unexplained in game, even though they have a section of the codex dedicated to game modes.

    • some of the old school devs had (7 years ago) too much say in systems a vast majority of the community was for. (vacuum for most companions took so many many years and loads of player data showing a massive skew for carrier, along with ever single broadcast, questionnaire, and event having people incessantly ask about if/when item collection was going to be reworked as a very easy one to point at). It was eventually and extremely begrudgingly given, but it took forever. Even destiny 2 had a ‘missed item’ collection system. This is the same reason we got archwing and then had it rot for years, same with railjack, open world incompletes (when third orb vallis?) and likely a handful of other systems that aren’t as obvious, like mod merging being extremely antiquated.

    • the ‘new player assist’ system called relays as a horrible attempt to guide new players to various gameplay extras. The objectives are so inconsistent and poorly planned out it actively feels malicious. Forcing players to find 3 index? Codex? scans on mars is criminal. That tileset is absolutely massive and most players aren’t going to have radar assist mods yet. The map designer is an absolute maniac on top of the spaces already being some of the largest in the game. It just feels cruel to force at that point.

    There’s a couple.

  • Warframe. After 5k hours and multiple accounts, I cannot recommend it whole heartedly.

And for a lot of people that one is not going to make sense. The game itself is not bad or poorly made. My issues with that game are so small that for a majority of the players they will never experience the issues I’ve had. It’s been a death of a thousand cuts, and unfortunately soulframe (the next thing they are making) has also left a bad taste after trying out. Each issue stems from the way in which the development team set about doing things (it’s been 7 years, some people have moved on, they might have gotten better)

  • I would be disappointed, but random news about sodium ion batteries keeps popping up and making me think it’s not so bad after all.

The there was that one article that was way too sensational to be anywhere near adoption, though it was pretty neat.

Researchers have discovered how microscopic imperfections and atomic vibrations can be used to control a powerful quantum effect in an advanced material. The effect can turn alternating electrical signals from the environment directly into the kind of current electronic devices need, without traditional components. As temperature changes, the signal can even flip direction, giving scientists a new way to tune device performance. (though there were little to no details about how much power was/could be generated at all and seemed based way more in theory than practical application)

  • I would imagine that the replicators do make the exact same thing every time. The same texture, ripeness, distribution of toppings, etc. each and every time. So wanting the ‘real’ thing may be part placebo, and part wanting to experience the random imperfections of a natural product.

Could someone with enough time and effort make the replicator able to create slight variations on the food that wouldn’t unintentionally poison people? Sure. However it seems like the replicator is used as a future MRE and that natural food is genuinely preferred by most people in that universe.
