3·7 months agoSadly, I’m guessing this is transparent to iOS users, they think they’re supporting creators with $X each month, but behind the scenes, the creator is getting $X * 0.7 and then I’m guessing Patreon also takes some off the top of that for their infrastructure.

Technology@lemmy.world•The AI explosion isn't just hurting the prices of computers and consoles – it's coming for TVs and audio tech tooEnglish
1·8 months agoI’m not sure. Current “dumb” TVs do actually exist, just search for commercial TVs. All the major brands make them for commercial applications where the end user has no need for traditional smart apps. Sadly, they cost a bit more (but not by a ridiculous amount) and may not have the latest alphabet soup image tech, but they look fine and work great. They still run an OS, but it’s stripped down to the bare essentials, usually just settings and input, not usually any apps. If any apps are installed, they’re unobtrusive and geared toward their intended purpose. I’ve been tempted to buy one, but the larger the TV the wider the price gap. The sweet spot seems to be at 65".

ITT: People complaining about how this phone isn’t 100% perfect and what they want. Instead of moving towards heaven, we might as well remain in hell until heaven is directly attainable. It’s a good start and the more money that gets thrown this way, the more others will follow. But by all means, don’t support this endeavor, let’s stay in our Apple/Samsung/Google versions of hell instead.
EDIT: I meant “isn’t”
