Alright, I just don’t understand what you mean by “a challenge in court”. In this case, you couldn’t challenge them on these rules, a court could do nothing about them.

From what I understand from their blogpost, it was mostly about conserving their own resources, because a lot of the vibecoded projects they got were uploading insane amounts of binary releases and wasting resources on CI/CD while having no users or other collaborators.

They wanna reserve more server space for projects, that actually productively use it, like bigger FOSS projects with actual users and contributors.

That is perfectly understandable for me, even without taking my huge distaste for AI into consideration. Anyone that thinks, that this small, community funded project is obligated to host their huge slop repos semms pretty entitled to me.

What do you mean? They are perfectly in their right to enforce this rule, even if they couldn’t prove that their reasoning made sense. They are not obligated to host your slop

What I found much more interesting than the new subscription, was all their weird obsessive behaviours the author described, which seem to almost normalized in her mind.

Like memorizing all the followers of your ex and checking regularly if they have new ones, to see if they have a new relationship. Or checking, if your exes look at your stories.

I am very glad, I am not involved with social media (and most of my friends as well), because it seems to exadurate your worst impulses in a way, that I would have never thought could be normalized in our society.

I agree in principle, but sales taxes are a bad idea, because they are regressive. That means, because poor people spend a larger proportion if their income, their income is taxed (through sales taxes) at a higher rate than the income of more wealthy people.

What would actually be a better idea is to have a higher income tax for the higher tax brackets, but also tax wealth and inheritance much more, that would be things like stocks, real estate etc, which the wealthy use to borrow against to avoid taxes (because they don’t pay taxes on the borrowed money).

Funny thing is, the US government doesn’t even have nearly enough money to bail all these mfa out. So we are heading into uncharted territory here

I’d probably recommend something with GrapheneOS as it’s pretty easy to install and use. I personally use it as well and never had any issues with it. You might want to look if your Banking apps work, but other than that, you can pretty much install most major apps through Aurora (like WhatsApp, Signal etc.)

If you want to go fully open, you could also try buying a Fairphone 4 and installing PostmarketOS on it, as I see PostmarketOS as the long-term ideal future OS for phones, because it frees us from the shackles of phone update cycles and gives the user full control over their OS (including changing the desktop environment).

But if you want to use PostmarketOS you have to be willing to tinker and not everything will work perfectly. Especially the camera will not be perfectly supported, even on the well supported Fairphone 4, your pictures will look worse than the ones you could take on Android, because there aren’t good drivers and post processing yet. But it can be really cool if you are an enthusiast.

You could also consider donating it to the projects you are hosting. Because developing that software still takes a lot of labour and these devs really need it
