Number on is completely pointless if you’re taking good care of your battery. You shouldn’t be plugging it in until it’s nearly drained. It pops warnings at 20% and 10% that all I need to know. I don’t look at it otherwise.
Ugh I posted a selfie, so I guess I’ll do a somewhat real bio now that I’m not a mystery person anymore :/

I guess it’s dumb to comment like that. Not gonna lie though, it’s wild to make a whole meme and comments dogging on it.

I have aphantasia and I have visual dreams although details are extremely sparse and imprecise. It’s kinda like the animated part of the music video for Take On Me visually, but even people are completely featureless. I can consciously visualize things in my head in a similar way with enough concentration, but it’s always a fleeting thing I can barely maintain for any amount of time.

I don’t believe that will ever come to pass. That future relies on the creation of a real AI and not just fancy text predictors. That real AI would also have to be actually sustainable which LLMs are not.
Not only has there been no progress on real AI, it wouldn’t be able to ruin society even if we did manage to make it. The rich and powerful are not impervious. They will inevitably make too many people too poor and then be overrun and torn to shreds. It’s happened countless times before and if we’ve learned anything from Ukraine and the Middle East this past decade, it’s impossible to bomb a large group of people into submission.

Have you heard of the “permanent underclass”? It’s a concept that silicon valley people have become obsessed with. Silicon Valley tech workers are doing hard drugs and taking untested peptides so that they can work harder and longer all in the pursuit of escaping the permanent underclass they believe AI will create. These people believe that when AI takes all the jobs, everyone who isn’t already rich will become part of some permanently unemployable poverty class.
It’s madness, but you already have to be unwell and have no concern for humanity in order to work at these giga tech firms in the first place.

Huh, fair enough. Still, I do delivery work as my day job and I’m not worried about a box on wheels taking my job.

A single company has some robots delivering short distances in three affluent FL cities. Boxes on wheels will work in a tiny fraction of places around the country and the world. The vast majority of the data collected is useless for them. The technology doesn’t exist to do any better either.
Like I said, Coco Robotics the company behind the FL robot deliveries is more likely to be a company hoping to be bought on the promise they can do more in the future than actually expecting to do any more. They’re private, so we don’t even know what their actual economics look like.

You’re not wrong, but my point was the fact that automated deliveries are a far off fantasy. By the time the physical technology exists to do this, the collected data will be irrelevant. Sure it would be better as a communist fantasy, but the reality is this is useless data being sold to companies that want to pretend it’s possible so their stock value goes up.

Is this bad? I mean I guess it has the potential to damage delivery workers, but isn’t working for grubhub or doordash already kind of a scam anyway? That’s before we consider that the likelyhood of any product coming to market that could actually successfully do deliveries. Sounds like a job complicated beyond the capabilities of any robot now or in the near future anyway.
I’m a very anxious person and I kinda liked the Taco Bell AI drive thru thing specifically because it was way less pressure even if it was annoying. There’s plenty of other stuff I simply won’t buy because I don’t want it enough to overcome my anxiety.
If the chatbots are reliable, I’d much prefer them in most shopping scenarios. So this makes sense to me.
Of the two, right is worse. The real killer though is when you take a long shit and it slaps your balls as it falls over.
I had always heard that you’re supposed to drain it as much as possible before fully charging it. My phone is 7 years old and the battery still lasts a full day following that. I could be wrong though.
