This is the first I have heard of AI upscaling. If it makes people happy, the good for them. It’s always great when people watch great content like this long after it aired.

Personally, I prefer to stick with the originals. In this case, DVD rips since i no longer watch DVDs. If the streaming versions have been updated, then I watch those just fine. I don’t care about the difference between Blu-ray or standard DVD. No need for special processing.

It’s the stories that matter most to me.

I don’t watch 4k television. I don’t have dolby surround sound. When I update hardware, I usually disable various technologies that supposedly make the experience better. (Like that feature that makes everything look like a soap opera).

Things like film grain don’t bother me. It’s what I grew up with. I always watch media with captions. I like foreign films and television. Black and white can be great. Etcetera.

The story and great acting. That’s what I love.

I’ve honestly just been hoping it never happens, because I don’t actually have a plan to deal with it if it does…

Things are still murky to me. Google said the following:

Is the problem then that developers have to register? I see the downsides to this, but does it actually block side loading and using F-droid?

You know, I was needing something to watch as I’m doing some mundane tasks at the moment. I think I’ll watch the first episode in TNG with Kurn now. 😁

I mean, on the plus side, Klingons look’ish like Klingons again. 😁 (Which I know isn’t exactly true, but Worf said enough on this topic in DS9 (YT clip))

It has been hard for me to admit it, but I feel the same way about SNW. For the first time in Trek history, my partner has been watching Star Trek SNW with me and is enjoying it. Which… is kind of the problem. 😬 I been getting… bored. 😞

Strange New World resonates for my partner in ways that are the very reasons I’m not particularly fond of the series, but this is good for them and good for other people entering the world of Trek and enjoying it.

I’ll continue to enjoy reruns of TNG and DS9 forever. And who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky with a series that I can really connect with in the future.

I think this trailer says more about me than it does Star Trek. It seems Paramount is done making Star Trek for my demographic, which is okay I suppose. Just feeling my age. 😅.

I hope it does well for the new generation. I kind of wish Discovery ended with Discovery. I mean I watched it and there are characters that I liked, but didn’t really enjoy the story. But! I do love Tig Notaro and I’m glad to see her on Academy. Super stoked about Ricardo.
