And Youtube taking almost half of your ad revenue (which itself is pocket change unless you’re a channel focused on investing, law, software development or real estate or you’re a channel regularly making over 100k videos) is barely a financial incentive. People complain about Valve taking 30% from game sales and Youtube takes 45%.

But you are correct in the sense that you can still make decent money with Youtube ads. But to make worthwhile money you need to make videos in the niches advertisers like, target an audience advertisers like (almost exclusively English speaking audience) and make videos that make at least over 1k views (which instantly puts you in the top 10% of content creators). Or be in the top 1% of content creators and average over 100k views per video. If you’re making something like gaming videos for 10k viewers Youtube pays you around $5 per video. At that point for the same video and viewers you’re probably going to make more money from the Peertube donation button than Youtube ad revenue.

So no, I’m not lying.

Yeah, Destiny 2 pretty much lived in the core gameplay loop. To this day I don’t think there’s another game that felt as good to play as Destiny. But without refreshing the core gameplay or giving some actually meaningful progression. I remember at one point I was doing a strike and those who have played the game will know what I’m about to talk about. After clearing the second wave of enemies and waiting for the third I realized that I was just going through the motion of threes. I was going to fight the third wave of the encounter so I could get to the second stage of the three stage strike and those strikes I have to do 3 times because that’s the weekly goal and that’s the entire 3 months of the season. It just started feeling like a treadmill where I’m running just for the sake of running. Just a carrot in front of the treadmill and if you get it then the next season the treadmill resets and the and carrot is put in front.

Once I saw that I could no longer get into Destiny. It just feel like I was there only to go through the motions. No emotion, no engagement, just doing the same thing over and over.

With the poor quality of the search engine results and the fact that information expires I very much disagree with this line of thought. Bit of reading solves the problem when you know what to read and understand what was written. It’s very easy to spend hours reading all sorts of things (because you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for) and then discover half of what you read is now 3-5 years old information and no longer relevant.

I know how easy it is because I spent days troubleshooting why my USB wifi stick wouldn’t work. Most of the information I found was from when you needed to manually add the driver and was no longer relevant. What relevant information I did find, nothing matched the issue I was having. In the end I didn’t care to bother anyone with a 5 year old wifi dongle because I’d probably run into people like you who’d tell me to RTFM before even bothering to understand the actual problem. Instead I solved the problem by buying a new dongle, one that I knew had been tested and worked. But someone else might have a far more expensive piece of hardware that they can’t just replace on a whim.

Let people ask their questions and if it really takes just a bit of reading why not take that 5 minutes to point them to the right place? How many days do they have to waste of their own before they’re allowed to ask their stupid question that you could answer in 5 minutes?

Actually the tooling is such that you have that written in some kind of a rules file that will then more or less append the rules to the prompt so you wouldn’t have to repeat it over and over.

I have to give the bouncy concentrated light a try. My two favorites are the classic homing (ideally accelerative homing for that increased damage) rock and the multipurpose ping-pong luminous drill (usually with also add mana to never run out of mana). Those are usually guaranteed to carry me far enough to a point where I can gather all the pieces for a high damage wand.

My only suggestion for outer wilds is that at the very start of the game if the village feels boring just go straight to the ship and once you’ve taken off give the game at least another half an hour to wow you. If by that time you’re not hooked the game might not be for you.

Well you don’t have to build them right now. You’ve got time. As I understand Sony is pushing PS6 release into 2028 due to all the hardware shortage. Either the bubble pops and hardware prices drop (or maybe China gets its production high enough to bring the prices down) or prices will still be so incredibly expensive that the next gen consoles will also be pushed back. Use the hardware you have right now and let us all cling to the hope that maybe in the future things will be better.

And? Just because it’s a good practice doesn’t mean it’s okay for Windows to go and fuck up every other OS on the drive. There shouldn’t be any technical issues with having two OS on the same drive. What if you just want to test two different OS so you could decide which one to keep? Are you supposed to buy a new drive just because you’ll need it for a month?

They shouldn’t. There are a lot of arguments why they shouldn’t. But there’s only one argument why they might, it’s the most corrupt government in the entire US history and they’re very gung ho about siphoning wealth upwards. No amount of logic or reasoning will work against corruption. If the government wants to bail them out they will find a way to bail them out.

Of course but the cost can be mitigated. I’ve seen an AI built project and the outcome is that you pretty much have to continue using AI to continue development because it’s borderline incomprehensible for humans. When AI fails to continue development you scrap the entire project and start from scratch.

Yeah, and you’re a consumer who should be acting in your own self interest. In case or needs to be said, a company going digital only on their own closed platform is not in your interest even if you buy digital only or don’t even use the platform. So unless you like being a corporate bootlicker maybe don’t defend things that are against your self interest.

Well yeah, but the price is so high because the big 3 refuse to meet the demand so CXMT selling ram is also going to force the hand of the big 3 unless they’re okay with CXMT just gobbling up the market. So what’s your point? That cars don’t need a seatbelt because we’ve banned kids from driving? Actually what you’re doing is just proving my point. For starters that ban doesn’t stop 16 and under from driving, it’s just something that will be used to punish someone after it has happened. At best it’s a deterrent because law-abiding citizens (including children) are less likely to break the law but I’ve personally seen kids take a car for a joyride and crash into someones yard so the ban isn’t going to stop anyone who really wants to go and drive. And more importantly it doesn’t really address the core problem which are collisions and crashes. Despite the ban adult people still end up in crashes. What does help are all sorts of regulations that car manufacturers have to adhere to make sure that the damage is minimized. Instead of having your brains splattered all across the road you might end up with a concussion instead.

And the same applies to social media. Banning kids from social media isn’t going to do anything about the addiction or mental health problems social media causes to people. It won’t even stop kids from using social media because kids are smart and if they want they will find a way around the ban. Now I’ll compromise a bit and say that banning kids from social media isn’t the worst idea because kids are more impressionable and social media might have a much bigger effect on a young mind. But if the goal is to improve the mental health of kids you also have to target the social media companies and regulate them to make sure their impact on mental health is minimized. Not only would that help kids but that would also help adults.
