Where do you propose we shop?

You gotta shop somewhere, would you rather it be Walmart?
I hate windows as much as the next lemmy user, but turning down a well paying job because I don’t want to use the OS 99+% of businesses use, means you must be at a level of stability I cannot even fathom.
And not you, but OP was kind of a dick calling IT lazy. As someone go works in IT myself, a lot of departments these days are woefully understaffed. We’re not going to support any extra software, causing us to work more overtime hours, because one douche is throwing a hissyfit
God you must make a ton of money

Yeah I don’t bother trying to customize any of them
I don’t get the gnome hate, it’s my favorite
What a fucking dumb ass. If true that’s the kind of thing you keep secret. Admitting 30% of your code base was created by AI is like bragging you switched all your steel parts for plastic. Literally nobody is impressed by you doing something cheaper and shittier. How stupid can you possibly be. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised MS leaders have been making absolutely braindead decisions for the last 15 years
.ml is beyond hope, I didn’t know anything about the fediverse when I made my account and just chose.ml because I thought it was the main one
Pretty sure boomer humor is her dur my wife is a removed

31·7 months agoI’m a big 2000 fan but yeah xp was mostly just 2000 with a more consumer oriented gui. 7 might actually be better, can’t think of any specific downgrades from 2000 to 7
Yeah, my have similar issues with my Grandma. Problem is she won’t ask anyone for advice, she’ll go out, buy something way more expensive than she needs with more features and more confusing interfaces than she can handle. Get frustrated with it and not use it, thinks she needs something else, repeat ad nauseam. It’s her money, she can do what she wants, but every time she gets something I have to teach her how to use it for her to just forget what I say and end up getting something else. Like Grandma, please let me just buy you an old TV and stereo on eBay that you can actually use and just be happy with it. Getting her to figure out streaming services (by her request) is impossible. She really just needs a classic cd player
Yeah fuck smart tvs. I’ve got a lower mid range one that actually has a decent display but probably was the last series to not have any smart features. I’ll go back to crt before I get a smart tv I swear
I would run the lts versions of Ubuntu, 24.04. they are more stable
You can take away my auto complete, performance monitoring and all that jazz but you can’t tell me a debugging system isn’t absolutely essential if you actually want to finish a project in a reasonable amount of time

2·9 months ago2012 was when you could still easily upgrade your own ram, drive, fix your screen etc. if needed, modern MacBooks are not made like that. Also a 2012 i7 would not be fast enough for most people’s modern workloads. But like I said, they hardware is good, if it does break though, you are kinda fucked on mac

29·9 months agoMac hardware is great. But they overcharge so much and are so anti right to repair that I could never give them my money
On some computers maybe, it’s significantly faster on mine though

Agree to disagree then
