Or maybe you could just tell me the thrust of your point instead of instructing me to read an entire book?

You are assuming that my experience is limited to youth crisis.
I have 11 years of experience working in addiction,… My response to your cynicism is this… You can only truly understand the scope of the greater issues on all levels … And with all generations, once you’ve worked in the field. And it helps to have lived experience.
Edit: oh yeah I know, I’ll up vote the uninformed opinion, and I’ll downvote the person who works in the field and is an educated and trained and expert /s
And yet it didn’t make you funny, weird 🤷
I don’t want to have an automatic yeah no yeah no back and forth with you but… I suspect I’m much older than you and I can attest here that most people, even in professional roles, were hammered all day. They were as “functional” as this current generation is on ridiculous amounts of weed, psychedelics, and uppers… That is to say, not as functional as they could be. There’s no “what’s worse” contest here; the choice of drug doesn’t change the underlying issue. I’m a recovered addict and I work in the field of addiction so I’m speaking from the heart.
Truth.
And that’s why it’s really not a contest, and we must forgive our parents’ generation and a few going back from there.
The piper is coming. No I’m not defending alcohol, but the level of drug addiction among our young people is shocking. The amount of digital addiction is shocking. I work in youth crisis so I am not talking on my ass, most young people are addicts now. So it’s all fun to talk down about boomers who drank but holy fuck is this generation ever screwed.

17·1 month agoI use google “ai” in when thrifting for audio gear. Minimum 80% of the time it gets something GLARINGLY wrong. “Oh ho ho! You correctly pointed out that I was completely wrong on all counts! An astute observation! Let me try again but this time give you the CORRECT information.”

People are allowed to like it, but it’s not really a great game. It’s got the razzle dazzle that fooled everybody but underneath it all it’s pretty dry

10·2 months agoMeanwhile in 2003 I contacted our it department to report that one of the PCs in our area literally lit on fire. I had watched it with my own eyes, and the smoke was in the air. PSU go poof. The techs came, took a look at it, said yeah we see no problem, left and closed the ticket.
So idiots are literally everywhere that’s the moral of the story I guess.

2·3 months agoFuck dude lol
I mean… so damned true. People going to mcdonalds because they’re seeking (or effectively addicted to) the hyper-engineered food-ingredient-based hot candy… and just delusional about the entire operation and their role in it.
I don’t even know anymore
Like really? Nobody could see this coming? Nobody could see that corporations are parasites enriching themselves off others’ struggles?
This is legitimately a good thing in the long term, hopefully it will allow people to refocus, and take back their pursuit of justice and equality in this society.
I never watch what companies say, I watch what they do, and I will always factor that behavior into my purchasing decisions.
It’s not possible, period.
Dude you’re not hitting 80 WPM with pokey-poke
I worked with a dude that insisted his speed was insane and when we tested him and took errors into account, the actual WPM was more like 15.
E: anybody who doubts this, please recall that a word is five character average, so 80 words per minute, including shift, capitals, punctuation, numerals, means this person is hitting over 400+ Keys a minute… 7 Keys a second. Ain’t going to happen with two fingers lmao… You can put your fingers on a desk, no keyboard, and you wouldn’t be able to strike the desk 400+ times a minute with your fingertips. Pure delusion.

I don’t need a lecture, apparently you’re not aware that when you recommend something to somebody, you should at least give them a vague idea of what the subject matter is and why they should be reading it.
