I love Qobuz. Also for those of you trying to boycott US goods, it’s a French company. I just wish it had the same adoption and features as Spotify.
Secretly an opossum.

The joke has been around a while, so they probably have made the same joke.
Thankfully, despite being a metal fan, I’ve never listened to enough Metallica for that song to get stuck in my head, and I probably never will. Fuck Metallica for supporting DMCA. I’ve heard they’ve been kinda coming around on it, but what a dick move. The way it’s set up tends to be ineffective or damaging to small artists.
Hell, what’s up with the big thrash metal bands? Like, Metallica helped get DMCA passed. Megadeth has Dave Mustane, a racist, homophobic, conspiracy-theorist and born-again Christian frontman. Slayer has an supposedly rabidly antitheist frontman. Anthrax is the only one where I don’t recall reading anything recent (within the last 10yrs or so) about the band members being shitty people.

Man, a lot of people here don’t understand how the music industry works. From the perspective of someone who’s been loosely following the music industry, what I’ve learned is that it doesn’t matter if Spotify gave up 2/3rds of their revenue, or 100% of it, the artists would still make fuck all.
Why?
The labels love taking their cuts and as a result, artists make very little. Instead of taking the blame for giving artists a <10% cut of the label’s revenue from their music (my understanding is that it’s pretty common for musicians to get <10%, sometimes <5% if you’re on a particularly shitty label), the labels are blaming platforms like Spotify.
Now, I’m not saying that Spotify is blameless, however I think there’s a lot of misdirection from the labels going on. I don’t remember anyone complaining about pre-spotify services like Pandora Radio for not paying out enough when they were largely ad-supported, which is another reason I’m not totally buying the, “it’s cause it’s free” argument either.
Fuck, remember Pandora?

Call me paranoid, but I feel like the “gay furry” part is a false flag. Especially the demand for irl catgirls and not catboys. I mean, they could be lesbians, but something has felt off about everything they claim responsibility for.

Why in gods name would a game remove trading after it’d been around for a while?
I don’t play rocket league, so I don’t know how good psyonix is with the community, but from the article it makes it sound like this was entirely epic’s decision. Sure, every game is going to wax and wane in popularity, so he would have had to find another source of income eventually; but he wasn’t afforded the luxury of having time to pivot when the site’s revenue started dropping too low because the rug got pulled out from under him. He was given the impression by psyonix that they liked his site by giving him an in-game flag and (it sounds like) special API access, and now they’re suddenly cutting ties to him.
It’s only a matter of time before they come for furry stuff. They did it with fansly. It’s apparently “simulated bestiality” and from what I’ve heard you aren’t even allowed to reference trans puppy girls, pup play, etc without getting banned.
