What was the innovation in the iPhone?
It was worse in almost every way except marketing than the n900.
The technology had reached the point where you could have smartphones by then, I don’t see what was innovative about iPhones.

IPhones & MacBooks were well built & marketed but neither was really innovative.

I disagree that it means they should be banned but they take money from corporations to produce slopaganda, that’s just true, and even beyond that their videos are well animated but the moment they touch a subject you actually know about you realize they are just internet researched videos that go a little more in depth that reading the Wikipedia page but it doesn’t seem they actually understand what they are talking about, which is fine except that’s not what they present themselves as (same with CPG Greg)
I mostly use Nebula these days, but I’ve giving up on finding new content and I think all the creators I follow are on both because you’re unlikely to get many new viewers on Nebula.

My theory is that
China has better integration between academia and industry - I’m mostly basing this off how in the US the academia is chronically underinvested so that the private sector can get it’s plunder of smart graduates, but when it comes to AI development you actually need academic knowledge of intelligence otherwise you’re just approaching it like an engineering problem
US companies are incentivized to spend more, the more broke they are the smarter they seem, so there isn’t really any incentive to improve in smart ways because you can just rack up a bigger bill with your investors and keep the circular economy going.
Would love to know what the recipe says though.

I don’t consider being in the right place when the tech fell into place, innovating (see also Tesla, MS-Dos, etc).
