It is sad how widespread the ai slop has become on youtube. The official Criterion collection channel just released a video which has scenes that are entirely AI-generated. The channel for the record company Analogue Sounds has as well. And even if the videos themselves doesn’t contain AI-slop, then a lot of them have AI-generated thumbnails.
It is disheartening how many people are just mindlessly accepting AI-slop in their daily life.
Size restrictions on what? And which limit?
Before AI they offered a lot of books which were just printed wikipedia articles.
However AI books massively increases the problem, because they can be created by the thousands, millions even, in seconds by any grifter out there, and there are a lot of grifters.
Any sort of argument of “it has always been bad” (and it has), are not very constructive, because the current situation enhances the shittification of the internet on a scale that was impossible before. It is an unprecedented situation.
Not to the extent it is now courtesy of AI.
They are the same. AI companies are using excess energy powered by fossil fuels for no reason at all. We don’t need it. If they were using renewable energy then they would be taking renewable energy from projects that are much more important for our daily survival.
All energy consumed by AI is energy we could have spend for something actual useful. That they are using fossil fuels just underlines what a mountain of “fuck you” to humanity the entire AI project is. It exists solely to provide more billions for billionaires and no other reason.
Not really. They are actively trying to circumvent consumers as a step to making money. That is what the entire AI-circlejerk bubble is about.
The project would help OpenAI move toward owning AI infrastructure
Yeah, all of these datacenters funded by other companies sure would help OpenAI own AI infrastructure, because that is definitely how that works.

All of the tech giants discovered that there is much more money to be made making tech for dystopian authoritarian governments than gamers. It was inevitable I guess.
They are abandonding more and more planned data centers, but there are still lots of them being build and new ones being planned as well.

The fact that they have already walled off content from the game unless you buy a deluxe edition should really tell everybody what this is going to be like.
Yeah, it was so obvious when Anthropic announced “Oh yeah, our AI did crimes as well!” right after OpenAI had announced their crimes.
And the line went up, because of course that must mean they are close AGI in the minds of the investors. Bunch of scammers all of them.
Most of that money is their own money though, just being paid back to them by the companies they “invested” in. This makes the line go up and adds to Jensen Huangs personal fortune, but it is not actually a profit for the company.
Their main manufacturing business is now making components for datacenters, and those are also starting to lose ground.
Jensen Huang is personally adding to his fortune though, no doubt about that. But so are all the other tech oligarchs, even if their companies are huge bubbles on the verge of explosion.
