In capitalism, if the demand is outstripping supply then eventually higher prices will command greater investment and the eventual return to normalcy of the supply vs demand curve. In theory it is more of the same, but how prolonged it will be will be dependent on when the AI supply/demand curve achieves normalcy.

Was your grandfather a Star Trek fan or somehow related to the show?

Can anybody help me understand the threat of these advanced models once the public and adversaries have access to them? I understand they can find software bugs and vulnerabilities and I get that US tech companies are using it to make their software more secure, but all of these companies have the benefit of their source code being available as an input to the model. Everybody else only has compiled binaries. Do the bad guys use the models to decompile or reverse engineer the code first?

I’m sorry that you feel that way. To my credit, they did indicate a lack of ambition to audit the code. Perhaps saying that’s lazy is a step too far, but I think my point is valid. If you cite your lack of ambition to audit the code and then complain that you cannot trust the code is definitely having it both ways by my book.

To what are you referring, though? Are you saying that you won’t ever use FOSS because you do not have the bandwidth to assure it is secure?

You cannot have it both ways. The source code is open for the sake of transparency. You can’t complain about not trusting the author when the code is readily available. Nothing wrong with laziness, but it’s not that you couldn’t check if you were really that concerned.

Wow. I’m not a YT music person and MacOS is my daily drive, but this looks incredible. Well done and a very nice contribution to the community.

I’m sure there is bluetooth device scanning occurring as well to identify individuals through their phones.

Certainly we all know that he will die alone.
I don’t mind the illustration work, but I feel like the premise and writing need some help. The protagonist is clearly plagued by being an armless hot head, nothing wrong with that, but does he have any depth beyond that or is every comic going to be a rehash of the same theme?

You don’t download the file. The JavaScript generates the file right on disk.

Spotted the guy that didn’t read the article.

The Signal server would send a backend notification to the client app via the Apple Push Notification Service. The app is then able to wake up, at which point it fetches new messages (securely) from the Signal servers. The app then generates a local notification with a preview of the received message. iOS is then logging those messages.
Oops. I basically duplicated your reply. You are spot on the mark.

So long Facebook, see you never, until one day I inexplicably need to use your platform to get updates from my kid’s school.
Screw any school or PTA that distributes information by Facebook. That should be outlawed.
Here is a whole directory of them as a starter. Many retro pages from this directory but many sites are active and get regular updates.
