I agree, its a tool. I have used free models for the last few weeks to make python scripts into portable exes to help streamline some onsite job activities that normally are done multiple times a month. I never would have the time to research how to code python, figure out libraries and such to put together, and then compile all that into an exe. You’ll never see me spend money on AI when the free models work well enough not needing “frontier” features.

I didn’t realize HDDs are taking a hit now… I’m moving overseas and opted to move my sever with me instead of rebuilding since ram alone is close to 1k now. I didn’t price HDDs at the time cause they are only 4 years old… Sure hope they hold on for another few years…

Immich is set up because I really like the image processing for things like seeing a timeline of my son’s pictures as he grows up. Pretty nifty addon to all that.

Depending on where one lives and how lavish they want to live, 1mil USD at 4% interest is enough to make a life on. That’s what my financial advisor tells me and I think it’s more than reasonable.
