Oi. I had mine in my hall closet, looks a lot like yours, including the Noctua cooler and stack of hard drives. In spite of adding a vent to the top of the closet door, and a big gap at the floor it still got too hot. I ended up moving it to the spare bedroom.

memes@lemmy.world•Apparently t-shirt and gym shorts aren’t a thing
1·6 days ago#2 in summer.
#1 in winter I wear long johns, sweat pants, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt, plus thick socks. I don’t run the heater at night, since I’m going to be in bed under a couple of blankets. The house gets down around 45F to 50F some nights.
In fact, in winter, I wear long johns and two pairs of socks, one normal, and one thick pretty much 24/7. What changes is what I wear over them.

7·6 days agoFuck. People are going to want these poor beasts for TikTok videos, karma farming. Then, breeders will start trying to make them.
I’m guessing this is already happening. I don’t pay attention to such things.
I’m going to start downvoting such content, I know it won’t help, but it’s all I can do.
I spent too much time searching for a video of someone who might have tried C.
No luck, but now I’m hungry for pizza.

9·11 days agoI haven’t logged into my Amazon account in ten years, and this won’t make me do it.
Learn the difference between need and want. Stop buying crap you don’t need. And, never knowingly buy anything off Amazon.
Fuck Amazon, and Jeff Bezos. All excuses people make to willingly buy off that fucking site are bullshit.

1·11 days agoI’ve used delivery on a few items when it was free, and felt a little guilty about it. Once, I added some coffee to my online order that was only available to ship, just to get it over the $35 free delivery, because it’s something I buy every week, anyway. They fucking delivered just the coffee, free or not, such a waste. But, I won’t pay a premium for it. I’m not rich.

41·12 days agoAlso, the last time I went to a cashier, because it was the one time I saw a long line at the self-check lane, I stood in the short line, I was third, while the cashier chatted up the customers, left the line to help another cashier with something and was generally very slow. I suspect they’re not required to be efficient anymore, and perhaps even encouraged not to be. I watched as the guy I would have been behind in the self-check line left the store while I was still second in line at the cashier.

5·13 days agoI’m waiting for them to close the stores to customers entirely and go to pick up or delivery only.
I know that would kill impulse buying, but I think they might make it up by not needing to police the isles, and no theft.
Service Merchandise did tag pulls and pick up at the register for everything back in the 70s and 80s. That might come back.

1·13 days agoI like self check because there’s never a line when I go. With cashiers, the policy was to only open a new register if the lines got over three deep. So, there was always at least three people in line, no matter what time of day, on average.
I’ve never waited in line since I started using the self check lanes.

memes@lemmy.world•This happiness people never give away their money!
2·13 days agoMoney can buy security.
People are naturally happy when they’re secure, so it seems like money buys happiness. Really, it’s just allowing you to climb out of the hole of despair we were all born into.
I’ve been 2.5 episodes into a “new” show before realizing I’d watched it before.
Seriously, tho…
Most people are decent and so don’t consider the potential problems with renting out a room.
There’s a lot more to being a landlord than just throwing an ad up and taking anyone who wants to rent. Background checks only tell you some of what they did in the past, not what they will do. There are no guarantees.
I have two rooms in my decent house I’d be willing to rent out for $400/mo. But, there’s the risk of taking on renters and then being legally liable for all the issues they bring with them. You never know what they’re going to do, and you can get stuck with them for months while you try to evict them. It can be a real fucking nightmare, to the point that I could lose my house in the most extreme situations.
So, no, thank you. I won’t be renting out rooms for an affordable amount, no matter how much I’d like to try to help.
