Just started Talos Principle II and am really enjoying it.

Really love a good puzzle game and these are up there w Portal in my opinion

I had gotten Subnautica free with PlayStation network, so was quite happy to pay for Below Zero when it came out.

Played it until I was forced back on land, and gave up.

Recently I went back to give it another try, and played it permadeath.

There were a handful of moments that reminded me of why I love the original, but not many.

Like you said, way too many tight winding maze areas that all felt very the same. It traded wide open depths for claustrophobia.

I really am looking forward to 2, I don’t have a PC so will have to wait. Trying real hard to avoid spoilers.

Because they are remasters. If you are on PC, with graphics and performance mods, this is likely meaningless to you.

As someone who has only played these games on PS3, I really look forward to a good remake.

Unless of course they are Xbox exclusives, which is entirely possible.

The other thing that never gets mentioned, you can’t actually play the 1.0 version of the games on discs anymore anyway.

The first thing it does is load 50g of day one patches etc

So even if you have a disc, if the servers go down, you ain’t going to be able to play the game the way you want.

Have been working on moving what I can to a VM, but the systems I develop require physical access, and when I’ve asked, I’ve been told there is no way to give a VM access to the laptops ports.

Many of the systems / devices are on physically isolated networks, use RS-232 or USB for access, etc.

If there are netsec approved ways of passing physical ports to the VM that would solve a ton of my issues.

I think a lot of it comes down to the build team.

We have a very strict build, and while there is bloatware I could do without, they’ve always been great about handing out new machines, so we generally stay ahead of it.

The issue I run into is that at our company, I’m very much “That guy”, who needs all the exceptions and special software.

While they’ve created some AD groups for me that provide most of what I need, transferring to a new laptop is a major procedure as I never know what new restrictions have been put in place that I’ll need exceptions for. It’s a constant battle between security and having the tools I need to do the job. I always have at least three laptops, one that I’m using, one I’m working on setting up, and the old one I can’t let go of.

All that being said, yes, win 11 is an absolute pig compared to other options, once my machine is dialed in, I really don’t mind the environment.

Course, it helps that my lab shares space with the end user IT support team, so all I have to do is call over my shoulder to have something fixed.

So wait, if my start up does a human written “Hello World” and the rest is piled on AI slop it can’t be stripped of copyright? Or is “Hello World” too generic to hold a copyright at all?

Granted, as you said this all has to be defined and tested in court, I’m just trying to understand where the line as you see it is.

Is this going to get rid of leveled enemies and weapons? No? Then Ubi remains on my do not buy list.

I’ve spent well over $2k on guitars, accessories, DLC, etc, for Rocksmith 2014. For five years I’ve been using it to learn bass guitar, and absolutely love it.

One day Ubi is going to turn off the servers, and I am simply going to cry.

There is no alternative I’m aware of, the new version is AI garbage from what I’ve heard, and I enjoy the thing I have and the songs I’ve paid for.

If they are not going to provide an offline mode, or the server code, then I will 100% make it my mission to pirate the game and make it playable offline.
