Looking at the study, ‘female’, or ‘feminisation’/‘feminization’ isn’t used once. But ‘oestrogen’ appears a lot. I guess some of these materials interfere with hormone activity and they call that feminisation? Still puzzled.

RDP (Resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate)): Used as a substitute to TPhP, RDP is an emerging neurotox- in and acts as an endocrine disruptor that interferes with thyroid and oestrogen pathways. Scientists report stronger oestrogen- ic effects than TPhP and RDP´s exposure showing metabolic disorders in rats and their offspring (Liu et al., 2023).

As people will see the good stuff is elsewhere and anyone who cares enough will do this little extra step. (the philosophy of being active in good places to grow them)

In other words. If this became a real thing, any respectable instance could just not federate with instances that don’t have this process.

I think the way forward as the next line of defense is to vet accounts. This has been suggested before and I believe quite a few instances do it already. Similar thing on Mastodon.

It doesn’t have to be a strict process, to start with anyway, but at least require people to write a quick paragraph of why they want to join.
