Im lucky. Ive been seeing the same doctor my whole life.

They know I live less than 5 mins from the office. At 30 before, they text me to check in over the phone. They then give me a time they actually want to see me. The office is usually running ahead of schedule, so its often a text just saying, ‘head on over’ and I just walk in and get escorted straight back to a nurse waiting to take my vitals.

Theres an old conspiracy theory, pre smart phone, that it was about preventing terrorists using phones as missile guidance. Basically, if you see a cellphone jumping 1 tower to the next, you can tell speed by distance and time between towers’ coverage areas.

They didnt want phones on planes creating constant false positives theyd have to verify against flight logs, etc, and obviously didnt want to give enemies ideas ideas, hence the line about interference, but of interference were a likely hazard, theyd be locking up phones for the flight.

There were a couple years where spelling/ grammar checks where it would always correct like half of the regular dashes id use into em dashes, and id have to copy an email dash after I spell checked, then ctrl +f all the regular dashes and replace them with the coppied em dash

I have one cabinet with matching sets of wine glasses, tumblers, Collins, 4 martinis. Also all the matching sets of dansk plates, bowls etc.

Then theres another on the other side with all the mismatched glasses, branded pints, plastic cups, kids cup Disney jam jar cups, etc, and random plates and bowls and stuff.

Next step is for someone makes a version that hijacks the Bluetooth headphones and makes them play a loud shrill noise that makes the glasses too uncomfortable to wear in your pressence.

And I think it just means anyone deciding to commit assault just also steals/ destroys the victims phone and glasses as a default

Unless im missing something about the design, theres a fairly common bit already on the market that works for this, and Id assume most auto shops already have laying around. My dewalt 50 piece came with one…

That one of those 2 pin spanner wrencheswith one on an arm that swings to adjust size, as far as asshole design security screws go, im not too mad at this… accomplishes what it needs to (keeping some rando with a screwdriver in his pocket from just deciding to undo some exposed screws for ‘fun’, or stealing your car trim) without being so proprietary pwople who arent preppared can’t undo it with tools at hand (like the apple Pentalobe screws, and various triangle and tritip Philips variants, really anything with an odd number of contact points is immediatly more of a pita)

I think over the course of the history of jeans, the pocket went from being for pocket watches, to coins (for payphones) to drugs.

Similar scenario but without the hostile element:

My nan and her neighbor back in the 60s cut a shared driveway leading to both garages. The houses are on a hill, that sort of flattened out a bit on the property line, mostly on the neighbors side, so grating that one section to flat was just cheaper. By the 70s, the neighbor had passed, and their adult children moved out of state. The house had collapsed in and was vacant until it sold a couple years ago.

In the intervening years, she made various improvements to the drive, first having it built up, then eventually my BIL had it paved for her. By our states laws, she met every element adverse possession of that strip of land, except it being hostile, because it was initially agreed to, preventing her gaining outright ownership. She did, however, eventually apply for an uncontested ‘right of way’ over the property, guaranteeing her access, and preventing a new owner from just buldozing the driveway and forcing her to cut a new and costly one into the hill on her land.

Fortunately, the new owner was also nice about it, and despite rebuilding with access to the house coming from the side street(his lots on a corner) did not try to get the ROW moved or removed, and instead added it as a restriction onto the deed before selling the house on, removing any future owners ability to contest it.

Forgot about this book. Was a coffee table staple in my late teens.
