And that exact reason is why physical media is out for the next generation. They want to control your ability to share, lend, and re-sell

I had key caps like that in grad school both in my home and school computers. Made it real awkward when friends would come over and try to use my computer for something (e.g. look up some songs to put on a Spotify playlist).

2·4 months agoI guess my question is more, is the “brave” one as good as uBlock? Or does it miss some things? Sounds like performance is better.
My only thought about using both would be if the “brave” version is more performant, but less protective, it could quickly get rid of most of the ads, and let uBlock get the rest, reducing how many are filtered at greater performance cost. But I’m sure that’s based on a gross misunderstanding of how it all works.

I always just thought it was the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon at work… but who knows, I could be wrong.

3·7 months agoHDR, or Dolby Vision? From my research, anything less than the Panasonic UB820 either has missing features, or longevity issues.
Even still, 180 euro is well above the under $40 you can lots of DVD and even Standard Blu Ray
Personally, I grabbed a MakeMKV compatible UHD optical drive from eBay for $150, and just remux my discs to Plex… and then use CoreELEC on the Ugoos AM6B+ to ensure proper Dolby Vision and Lossless Audio support…. but I know that’s not exactly a mainstream option.

5·7 months agoEarly 2000s to mid 2010s movies shot digitally? Sure. Film shot movies, especially on 35mm or larger, absolutely look better in 4k. Especially when they’ve been restored from the negative and converted to HDR for a 4k release.
There’s a lot of older movies out there where the UHD Blu Ray is the definitive version to own, looking significantly better than any prior version (and will likely never look better).
