I mean that’s what “exempt” means in this context.

You’re exempt from the service too probably.

People love it for some reason but I cannot recommend. Newer laptops are trapped between no support under X and a half baked version under Wayland. And I didn’t find the community supportive enough.

Rogue*
I doubt it started using makeup.
Yeah, but Bushido is brought up whenever the Japanese culture is romanticized.

Yeah, but not for half a kilo strapped to your forehead. That was kinda obvious. Even Hololens balanced the weight on the head.

Really: what did they expect. Most of the companies who saw the device coming thought of it as a foot in the door more than anything else. If Apple wants to compete with others in the space it can’t release a heavy version of the Quest and think it’ll just work out. Meta now has the Raybans and think of them what you want, but they at least seem to sell. Apple should want to go there, VR is just a stepping stone’
My guess is that it’s an excuse, not the actual reason.

Image classification is old tech that existed long before ChatGPT and similar huge models became the new norm. These models are already embedded in many data flows and run within milliseconds on non-specialized hardware.
You were talking about 1B models. More modern image classification are in the mere millions. Yolo v10 has like 7M, MobileNet, which Google often uses, has around 4M parameters depending on the version. Image classification is not why there are data centers being built everywhere.
Camera apps, image and video filters and content moderation (the app in question) all use them for live processing. I can guarantee you this runs flawlessly on your phone unless it’s older than 10 years.
You’re employing AI guerilla warfare against pre-LLM technology. It’s not effective.

Technically it’s neither. Viruses spread and spyware sends your data to an attacker. This app does neither. The third party feature however does make it easier for spyware to identify sensitive content on your phone, but then you have a problem anyway because you gave a spyware app access to all your media.

I like my no BS ISP that allows me to use any retail router matching their specs. One thing I just don’t have to worry about.

Any place that is worried about its IP being leaked? I work in tech and almost every employer had some kind of restrictive camera and cellphone policy.

Many places already do this with cellphones. It shouldn’t be different for such glasses. Using recording equipment is rarely appropriate in a workplace.

Solarpunk instead of Cyberpunk!

As soon as you don’t just look at momentary values, but the change of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere the picture is a lot less rosy. Nature can adapt, but it operates in time scales that reduce all of human civilization to a tiny blip in the history of the planet. The current change is unprecedented and is much more akin to extreme events like meteor impacts or huge volcano eruptions.
Actually looking at how nature has been and is changing right now affected by human made climate change, we are clearly steering towards an extinction event, not an era “with more life”. Extinction means death. A lot of it. It’s not the first extinction event of its kind, but catastrophic nonetheless.
Will there be a recovery after a million years or so? Sure. Will there be anything resembling human civilization? No.

And we gotta be negative. Net 0 is a nice milestone on the way to build a future for our children.

Unknown temperature extremes? We knew about climate change for much longer. And France’s nuclear reactors have an average age of less than 40 years.

My favorite episode. They had memories like sieves because they could look up everything and every single interaction.
The crazy part is that it’s utterly misunderstood as “abolish the police”. You see officers in military gear parading next to crumbling libraries and don’t think the funds should go somewhere else?
Lack of literacy is a problem. Defunding a militarized police force isn’t. But I guess the general public needs more handholding.

You can be sure the providers will make sure they’re not legally responsible and that the system prompt has been reviewed by the Legal Dept. So it’s you, the user.
And that’s why we need to build better and better tools for everyone.
