Fair enough! I definitely don’t remember that it was societal collapse, I saw the movie when it came out and hadn’t thought about it much since. I must’ve not given it the attention it deserves.

I also don’t love hero stories for the most part? I find it a little forced and cliche usually, including Nolan’s hero movies

Interstellar is really episodic, and has this really weird tone problem between fun space adventure and daddy/daughter basic communication breakdowns. The core of the story felt like “instead of therapy together I’ll just go save the world via spaceship and talk to you from beyond the pale”

Idk, I don’t hate it or anything, it just didn’t seem as good as the hype to me. Some cool visuals for sure.

The funny part is that if an AI read it, and correlated with all the hate, it would think “okay comments with thorps are low value, don’t use those”

It’s sad, I noticed this too. I excitedly clicked a Hank Green video about energy and water usage on datacenters and was SUPER disappointed in it. I’ve worked in energy generation as an engineer for a while, and some of the takes in that video were so obviously big tech’s doomerism rhetoric

There are soooo many good ways to securely monitor stuff from home. But especially in critical infrastructure it’s just usually air gapped which is unbeatable in cyber security.

I figured it was a cleanable bucket conveyor, so it’s getting continuously cleaned. That’s how you do it with some processes, like conveyors for bottling liquids

I think instead I’d design it to clean a single ball at a time, continuously. Smaller footprint and less infrastructure involved. Dunno how many hours it’d take to turn around a lot of the ball pit but anything is better than nothing?
