I’d hardly call that horde of illiterate braying degenerates ‘normal people’.

Wiby and searchmysite are basically this. I have them as backends for my SearXNG instance, in addition to mojeek, qwant, startpage, duckduckgo, and brave search. Put together, it’s basically as good as Google was before it got enshittified to all fuck.

6·7 days agoI’d agree with you if it weren’t for children and immunocompromised people. It’s a shame it can’t be only adult antivaxxers who die in outbreaks like this

401·7 days agoIf it weren’t for immunocompromised people and children, I’d say that I welcome all anti-vaxxers to stick with their beliefs and learn first-hand why we invented vaccines to begin with (plus a society with fewer belligerent cranks is more stable and less prone to supporting authoritarian/far right ideology). It’s a shame they have to hurt innocent people with their bullshit too
Quest 2 is a solid headset, but imo you should be running it through a pihole to block Facebook telemetry, that thing sends a truly Astonishing amount of data to Facebook.
Their SSL certs keep expiring and they have a weird package release schedule on a ~2wk delay from base Arch, which causes half of the AUR (or any custom pacman repos) to break in unpredictable ways due to out-of-sync packages.
It’s niche is entirely served by EndeavorOS tho. And EndeavourOS knows how to set up a cron job to keep their ssl certificates up to date💀

4·7 days ago“Hindsight can he 20/20” applies to forgetting a restaurant is closed on Sunday or something, not for deliberately allowing a child to die of preventable disease. They should all be prosecuted for negligent homicide.

1·21 days agoFairphones don’t come with Linux pre-installed (I think you can pick LineageOS or /e/OS iirc), but they all support Linux and the past couple models of them are basically just regular smartphones specs-wise. Probably gonna upgrade to one of those when my GrapheneOS Pixel 8 dies.
I agree, but it will mean an end to highly subsidized LLM subscriptions and free access to any cloud LLM worth actually using for anything, which will make it much harder for the average person to rely on LLMs as much as this person.
I feel like this is probably a disinformation bot. Why would a human being have such strong feelings about an OS that allows people to circumvent corporate control/surveillance on their PC?
Most jobs don’t matter tbh. Does any society actually need advertisers/marketing people, corporate executives (or frankly about 70% of middle management jobs), corporate consultants, or private equity? These jobs could vanish overnight and no one in the general population would give a shit. Lots of those jobs are a net negative to society, people might even be better off.
AI just exacerbates the existing trend of Bullshit Jobs by allowing people to produce orders of magnitude more worthless garbage (which is a massive boon to the worthless garbage industy, e.g. advertising, fraud, and propaganda).
I am completely okay with everyone dumb enough to outsource their critical thinking to AI having their lifestyle upended when the AI bubble pops

2·1 month agoRoko’s Basilisk is the stupidest bullshit I’ve ever seen anyone take seriously to outside of conservative Evangelical Christianity or other literal religious cults. It’s just Pascal’s wager for people who think they’re too smart for Pascal’s wager. Why in tf would an artificial superintelligence bother constructing a simulated hell for humans who didn’t contribute to its existence. Does this hypothetical ASI think it can influence the past by acting in the present? I immediately disregard every opinion someone has if they admit to taking Roko’s Basilisk seriously.
