My LG TV runs WebOS, which is a linux distro. I have been wondering how hard it is to root and replace with a distro of my own choosing. I had thought because my TV is pretty old that I was safe from the more sophisticated spying, but last week it interrupted what I was watching and would not let me continue using it without agreeing to new terms of use. This revived my interest in rooting it.

Instead of using the arrow keys most vi & him users navigate the cursor around the doc by using letter keys. I do it so subcociously now I am not sure which direction is the j when I use my phone.

If the ads starts running too long I just hit the back button or close the window and go look for something else to watch.

Before that people used to write phone numbers on the stall walls advertising things.

Most servers do not need a fancy user interface. They don’t have monitors attached to them. Most of the other OSes you listed come bundled with a ton of user experience software along with the expectation a human will directly interact with them.

Servers are typically deployed and managed with automation, by the thousands. Lean. Simple. Secure. Tuned for their specific purpose. This is a lot easier to do with Linux than an all purpose general use personal computing platform.

I’d use an s3 bucket with s3fs. Since you want to host it yourself, Minio is the open-source tool to use instead of s3.

I think they are trying to go back to before they were grown up and had to deal with adult issues. They idolize their innocent childhood and some how associated that as the time when America was great. They find it really confusing that the child’s perspective of that time window was flawed. They also find it confusing that different age conservatives all imagine a different time window for when life was good.

Thanks, id been thinking about getting one for my next laptop. Now I’ll rethink that. The issues you describe do seem.particularly annoying.

We also don’t know the true cost of these tools since most AI service providers are still operating at a loss.

I was in a computer store a few years ago watching a young guy trying to sell a tablet to an older woman. He said “the good news about this is that it can’t get viruses because it runs apps”.
