I got a Minis forum S100 PC stick. It does work well with kodi. But! It can be a load of work to get going. This device is using a UFS storage chip. So not all distros will install on it by default and require some tweaks to load kernel modules at boot. I use the device with alpine Linux and kodi GBM on top (libreelec doesnt see the storage device).

Also keep a eye out for what the CPU supports on these lower end chips. Not all of them have great hardware decoding support.

So i have not used a laptop with linux for quite some time. Only desktop and servers for the most part.

Recently however, I setup a dell XPS17 with opensuse Tumbleweed. This works great but I did run in to the issue initially that when using LUKS full disk encryption in combination with secure boot it disables the ability for hybernation. Something the due with kernel lockdown.

The solution was to not use secure boot and that allows the laptop to hybernate even with LUKS.

Something to keep in mind when setting up a laptop.

My dad currently owns a etron 55. Wonderful car if you ask me just not my riding style. But the service from Audi is absolutely horrific over here. Big part due to the official importer for the vehicles. Services is non existent and surprise bills of 10K+ are common.

That would be a reason for me to steer away from Audi as well. However the car I got in mind is indeed the etron GT. In my opinion a much more premium car then the Porsche taycan. I have driven in both and the etron clearly wins drive comfort to me. Just Audi service is so bad…

The I4 would be a more nice middle ground for me but then BMW does this type of shit. In regards of driving electric. Yes that is a requirement. We have all been driving for 12+ years fully electric at this point.

The car manufactures that IMO becomes more and more interesting is KIA and Opel. Service is great cars are more serviceable hen other brands. And pricing is not half bad. Unfortunately they don’t make nice sporty electric vehicles yet.

Yeah… I was considering a Audi etron or the I4. Well choice is mutch simpler now. Same for my dad. He is considering the I7 but might hold off on that idea.

I do agree Tumbleweed is great. My distro of choice as well. But it can have its more obscure issues from time to time as well. No distro is perfect.

Arch as far as I am aware has never been recommended to new users. Sure their is CachyOS and other variants. And on top of that AUR you shut read the build scripts. But I suppose not many people do that unfortunately.

So I am their target as well. I like to utilize it in a DIY motorcycle navigation based in a raspberry with a display. Their are no great options for motorcycles at this point. And I love to diy it.
