I’ve got no issue with people using tools to improve their work. I think it’s fair to say that AI is enough like predictive text and spell check when it comes to tools you can use at work. and like any tool, the user is still responsible for the end result

it’s exactly that. at least the delay that I’ve come across. thankfully it’s been fixed on Windows 11 now, but it’s absolutely mind-blowing how long that was an issue

when I was testing it out, accessing files through the OneDrive path would have the second delay at every folder navigation. if I remapped that directory to a local drive letter then it worked as expected, instant. literally just one drive fucking it up

one of the programs that we use everyday at work recently added an AI coding tool. I was going to announce it to the team when I noticed with the usual disclaimers about ensuring you know what the macros are doing, but then just deleted my message.

we’re not a team of programmers, and there’s only one or two people on my team that I would trust to write code that could potentially cause us days of rework and tons of thousands of dollars lost to the company.

those other people don’t need an AI coding tool, because they can’t code in the first place, and those aren’t the people that I want modifying thousands of files at once when I know that they barely review the work they’re doing manually already and I have tools in place to semi-automate that review for them.

that’s fine, I’ll just stop flying. plenty for me to do that doesn’t require it.

PowerPoint is a simple slideshow tool to put info into one file without using multiple tools. certainly saves us a ton of time because we can just fire off a power point that took somebody 45 minutes to make (30 of which was finding and documenting the concerns and would have to happen anyways) instead of put a dozen people into a meeting and force an on the spot answer. and then we get written responses, so we don’t have to separately document a decision being made.

edit: I guess I should add the context that I’m not in the line of work that the meme is addressing. I’m in an engineering related field, and my meetings and discussions are not businessy things. they’re technical

otherwise, I do agree that the AppleTV itself is quite polished. I use it for any streaming services that I may have, which is not many lately but was quite a few in the past, Plex, and YouTube primarily. also used to do some Zwift on it before I changed to using an iPad.

besides the absolutely horrible remote that for some reason doesn’t have actual buttons for arrows and confirm, the rest of the experience actually is quite good and generally anything that is not is to do with the apps themselves. for example, Sportsnet is just a fucking terrible app no matter what platform you’re on.
