I think it depends if You have the habit of leaving tabs open. I had to use a 8GiB computer for a while this year, it worked well, but opening discord, YouTube and a webmail simultaneously was pushing it.

16GiB, the modern web is starting to be quite rough on 8GiB. Unless you have a very performance sensitive application, I don’t think the timings matter that much.

So SpaceX buys the Tesla cars nobody wants while Tesla buys the SpaceX AI nobody wants. It’s inspiring to see free market capitalism allocating resources so efficiently.

I manage multi user systems and try to be on top of this and no, privilege escalation with a working public exploit are very rare. There’s quite a lot of CVEs with potential privilege excalation, but most of the time there is no real world exploit. And a large part of those are related to user namespaces in one way or another.

This one is truly scary, at least the immediate mitigation is pretty straightforward.

How that’s weird, because I can name it under it’s french name “attrap’ souris” (literally “catch mouse”) but this implies it was originally themed with burglars.
