Well sort of. The researcher got permission, but they didn’t realize it was going to be the oldest tree ever recorded or they wouldn’t have done it.

I learned this summer bristlecone pines are among the longest lived life forms on earth. The oldest known non-clonal tree in the world is a bristlecone pine, named Methuselah, in California over 4800 years old. Its exact location is a closely guarded secret since the last oldest tree, also a bristlecone pine, was accidentally cut down.
Framework 13 pro. Its US, but it looks like a solid laptop with excellent battery life, premium build quality, it has modular forward and backwards compatible upgrades between generations, and ships with Linux. Not a lot left to be desired with this one in my opinion.
System76 is Linux first. They’re the ones developing the cosmic desktop environment, which is a gift to humanity, and may help ease your mind when buying from the US.

Wish Linux on mobile was just as mature as on desktop.
Vim + snippets made writing math with LaTeX a legitimately enjoyable experience during my masters degree. LaTeX commands are a pain to type out without snippets. Does any other editor have this?
Also not sure if other editors let you save your session, tabs/splits/windows, and easily switch your view. That and registers, marks, macros, and the ability to search and rerun commands are too convenient. Vim for both large and small coding projects for me.

I would love to take a class on functional analysis

Not acid, but in my experience 5 grams of shrooms will make the chicken melt.

Well on my county’s recycling website it literally says the cap cannot be recycled and must be removed and thrown in the trash. Im certain this was the case the last place I lived too.
If the EU has recycling centers that can process them together that’s great and the law makes sense.
Not sure what needs to change aside from heavily limiting the production of plastic, but recycling has basically always been bullshit. One small win for plastic bottles in the EU doesn’t solve the larger issue of every other mixed material or dirty plastic container that ultimately ends up in a landfill.
How many people clean and dry everything they recycle? How many people separate different plastics, mixed material items, or remove recyclable parts from things they throw away? So much of what can be recycled doesn’t get recycled.
Looks like less than 10% of what can be recycled gets recycled, and up to 30% of what ends up in a recycling centers is trashed anyway. It should never have been the consumers responsibility. Wish people would stop buying this crap.
Plastic is the worst of all https://oceana.org/blog/recycling-myth-month-plastic-bottle-you-thought-you-recycled-may-have-been-downcycled-instead/. This is nothing but performative. Might only falsly appease someone’s conscience.

As I understood it, the bottle caps are too small to be recycled seperately. They can’t be processed together with the bottle, and get tossed anyway. If attached, there’s a good possibility none of it gets recycled.
Just looked it up, depends on your local region. Mine requires caps be removed, and bottle rinsed and flattened.

The economy for the common good is one.

Also cooperatives exists, and in many ways are more successful than their traditional capitalistic counterparts, providing a system to help “reconcile egoistic actors” by rewarding cooperation and solidarity rather than competition and utility maximization.
Keep things as simple as you can. I swear people make their lives more difficult than it has to be. Get rid of stuff, cancel your subscriptions, keep your living space clean, give xanax a try, sell your kids… That kind of thing. But otherwise, when something comes up, you just kind of deal with it.

Finally. There’s barely any other laptop that measures up to the build quality of a Mac.

I was looking at a thinkpad some months ago on their website and selecting Ubuntu from their options took off $160.

Wait is this how you get up to date when your system is past long term support? Had trouble updating once and couldn’t find an answer.
Didn’t properly backup my data and lost a couple years of work doing a fresh install (school work and personal projects). Would not recommend doing backups drunk. Would recommend backing up your data regularly.
Anyone tried lisp? Looks something like this. ((()))()())))

Personally when I say I want to ditch capitalism, the first thing I think of, among many, is simply about democratizing the workplace. Cooperatives have proven themselves to be superior than the current private model in a variety of metrics. If we reduce the defining characteristic of capitalism as needing capital to produce more capital, the current issue is that cooperative enterprises struggle to obtain the initial capital necessary to get started. Even though they have much greater success rates, banks have historically refused to give loans to these endeavers. There exists non profits to try and fill this void but its not enough.
Sometimes it helps solve an equation by adding zero.
Its close. This is more rounded. I don’t think you can do that without an extension. And those aren’t the default icons, which really helps complete the look here.
