Once it happened to me because 6 years prior I’d made a change thinking ‘hah. That makes more sense’ and then things changed under me and I had to read journalctl in a tty. Low key enjoyed dealing with it. But here’s the thing: most ppl are dead at that point. No idea what to do. Arch is for nerds.
Edit: if you also read my other post about iptables, this is a completely different thing. I had two issues.

1·21 days agoWell my take on it is pretty 1-dimensional tbh
Would you actually rather die? That seems likely to be an exaggeration but I don’t know you.

memes@lemmy.world•When people tell me AI will eventually replace everyone
0·1 month agoRight but whilst the thing is easier with better tools, and indeed the process has changed, to me ‘automation’ of a task refers to its process being reduced to, at best, a daily 30s review. Tools are… Ways of optimising and changing a process. Automation obviates them. It’s a personally lexical stand, you can sanely differ.

memes@lemmy.world•When people tell me AI will eventually replace everyone
0·1 month agoWell… Automation usually describes process automation and you’ve just listed tools. So yeah, I agree, people don’t think of them as automation. Because, colloquially, they’re not.

Linux@lemmy.ml•'Rust makes coding fun again': Why Linux is moving away from C, according to Greg Kroah-Hartman
1·1 month agoThat’s still rather recently, and there’s rather a large stock of ‘before people’ hanging around. But I agree inasmuch as it’ll change as time goes by and one day you’ll be right.

1·1 month agoIn that case, stil reckon a higher proportion ofl Rust devs contribute to Linux than C devs

2·1 month agoWhat’s a rust programmer? Someone who’s ever written anything in it? If the same holds true for C, probably a higher percentage than of ‘C programmers’ given how long that’s been a teaching language lol
You sound like you’re talking about application run performance. That shouldn’t be noticeably different. Startup and application load time tend to be where the gains are.

1·3 months agoI hadn’t thought about Canada at all, nor about how indigenous people in North America / Australia wouldn’t necessarily have been included in historical literacy rates – instead I’d glibly taken the literacy rates of the largest countries that ostensibly ‘spoke English’ at face value, and you make a compelling point. All very interesting, thanks

Outstanding to me that my only actual claim – that civilian humans were in fact killed during the infamous protests – is one that you folks actually do accept, albeit reluctantly, but y’all still got your knickers in a twist and are ascribing all sorts of stereotypes to me in your head.
Can’t tell you how much your sympathy means to me, comrade
It’s cool how you deny the agency and personhood of the protestors by outright stating that they were all plants by ‘western countries’. Very enlightened!

Either people end up dead and yet it’s still somehow a nothing burger or we don’t even make it that far
