Consider me an uninformed enthusiast, but isn’t a lack of upstream kernel support often cited as the main reason why old phones can’t be modified once support ends? As in, if this pans out will this be absolutely huge for long-term device support for third-parties and modders?

For extreme non-techies who really don’t understand computers and just want to use a few websites it’s a solid choice because it’s so basic that it’s hard to break
I’ve not crunched the numbers myself but the actual racing probably produces a lot less pollution than the logistics of teams and fans travelling to each race, and given that there are only 20-odd races per year all the fans travelling around the world probably causes less overall pollution than something like football where there are loads of big matches every week.
Interestingly one of the purposes/benefits of f1 is (supposed to be) pioneering new technology. For instance, the fuel is (supposedly) now sustainability produced, and I think a lot of the hybrid engine tech developed for f1 then made its way to road cars. Of course most of the biggest sponsors are oil companies looking to throw away the electric tech now, so who knows what the fuck the future looks like…

You could try Aurora, it’s made by the same people as Bazzite but with a general (or developer) focus instead of a gamer focus, and while it’s not LTS I think it updates less rapidly than Bazzite.
If your user is really tech un-savvy though, I’d just go with ChromeOS Flex. For all their (many) faults Google do at least produce a simple all-in-one experience, and I’d rather my elderly relative use Chrome’s password manager than no password manager at all.

The problem (well, one of the many problems) is that “AI” is a meaningless buzzword slapped on everything by marketing drones. I’m sure there are some real advances that could be made by what five years ago we’d have called “machine learning”, but the chatbots that everyone’s currently obsessing over don’t have anything to do with that.
Ah, thought it might be too good to be true. Still, this seems like a step in the right direction, right?
