Arch, curl, ffmpeg, and every tiny thing that needs more funding.

2·6 days agoFor cost you also have to count the hardware expenses
That would be exactly same as the current Gitea setup
Do you think it’s a viable option for replacing our team’s gitea/forgejo instances, so we don’t have to connect through a VPN for remote work, and mirror on a vps for redundancy?

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux 7.2 finally cuts off ancient x86 fallback code
12·13 days agowhen all x86 production stops, we can give it 20-30 years from then.
I haven’t used Guix system (as OS) but using it on top of Arch has been… Cool at least?
I can’t speak for it’s reliability or reproducibility that much since I haven’t encountered issues yet. It’s hard to grasp, and hard to setup, and needs a lot of time and network bandwidth but it’s cool. I like adding my packages to a manifest so I know what is installed and when.

Unless you have a good reason to do so
?
Of course I have my own opinions and some of them are quite spicy.
There are good reasons to use lax licenses and I think most of them are stated in that same section you are quoting from.
How do you think I can improve it?
EDIT:
I reworded that part. You were right, it was poorly written. I was very tired. I feel like the phrasing is better now, although my pessimistic stance towards permissive licenses still remains, while pointing out their usecases.
Thanks for your input! If anything else catches your eye, please let me know.

Live HTML previews isn’t a dealbreaker feature. Use external tools like https://github.com/Abenezer-Daniel-1/live-html
So now this requirement is decoupled from your editor.

Linux@lemmy.ml•How to check if a new type of charger is harming your laptops battery?
2·2 months agoIf the voltage and current matches, then it’s fine.
If each install takes 10mins you have installed 200 times that is 2000mins or ~34 hours.

Project release goes from v0.3.1 to v7?
I already think the project isn’t serious.
