I started out on CS 1.3 and Day of Defeat, I played source a lot too but then after that lost a lot of interest in it. I tried playing CS: Go for a while but it was never the same as those early days in LAN cafes and on shitty slow internet :D

Auto vs manual, neither is “better”, it depends more on situation and personal preference. I’d take a manual over auto any day personally.

Power steering vs not again depends on application. I’d rather have no power steering in a little sports car and get more positive feedback but would rather power steering on some heavy unwieldly vehicle.

A map vs sat nav bullshit. I’m guessing more people would argue the latter being “better” in this case but there are plenty of people who would rather read a map and know exactly where they are rather than blindly follow shit.

That suits me, I couldn’t care less about the smart watch crap that is included on most of their watches, I have it for the fitness tracking. So even better!

Appreciate the replies and definitely going to look into this watch a little bit more. I like the aesthetic of it and the fact it still has buttons as that is an absolute must for me.

It seems like I record more activities than the average person so probably can’t get as much life out of it but even one extra day is a 50% improvement over what I get right now!

Just had a look at this, interesting, although it is bolstering its battery life with solar power.

Do you have real world experience with it? Does it last as long as it claims? I have to charge mine every 2 - 3 days as it is right now.

Judging by all the replies it seems like the Venu watches have exceptionally good battery life in comparison to all the forerunner models I have had!

That makes more sense I guess as I know the GPS is a major battery drain. Maybe that model is also better with battery in general as I know for sure none I have ever owned would last that long just using it as you do. :)

Are you not recording any activities / using any GPS?

Obviously everyone has different use cases and experiences so I don’t want to disregard other experiences it just seems so far out of reach for me compared to the experiences I have had across 5 or 6 different models of their watches over the years.

I have mostly used different iterations of the forerunner range and a Vivosmart which was fucking trash IMO.

10 / 15 days! No way. I have owned multiple garmin watches over the years and none of them have ever lasted 10 days, even when brand new. Even if you don’t actually use them for recording activities I can’t see them ever lasting that long.

My current watch is admittedly 4 years old at this point so I expect some degradation but I average 3 recorded activities a day and the battery will last 3 days at the absolute best and that is running it down to like 2%

I like garmin hardware but struggle to believe anyone is getting 10 days or more from a single charge!

I feel the same but what it comes down to for me is I hate Nintendo IPs and for the most part it is the Nintendo games that bring people to their consoles.

Pretty much everything else is available elsewhere. Or at least that is the impression I get. Does the console have any noteworthy exclusives that aren’t Nintendo characters.

Pokemon would be the main thing that appealed for me too but I liked red, blue, stadium and that was about it. I didnt play much after that and what I did didnt stick so I think I’d have similar feelings to you towards the new ones.

For food I cooked using a gas type stove or I also had a portable rice cooker type thing that I could cook rice as well as soups or stews or that type of thing in.

Cleaning I used a combination of a gym membership to a nationwide chain and used their showers, used family members showers if I was near to them and sometimes I’d have a baby wipe shower if I was really in a pinch and needed a basic clean.

Entertainment the same as I do in a house but just in a lot more energy conscious fashion. I run and cycle a lot so that was easy and I could run a lot of different places.

I had a small solar panel as well as the alternator charging a decent sized battery setup that I had hooked up to USB ports as well as a power inverter to convert to AC power so that way I could charge a laptop as well as devices.

So I had my phone to watch videos or listen to music on etc and then a laptop I could play games on or ran my DJ setup reliably. I had many options, I just always had to be conscious of batteries. I’d always have the laptop charging whilst I was on the move as the engine would make an abundant amount of electricity and then I could charge the laptop a few times if needed from the battery or trickle charging from the solar. So yeh, I had plenty to do.

I also smoked a lot of weed in combination of those things xD

Yeh a lot of people do but I bought my van for 2 grand which was basically 2 months rent. There is definitely some anxiety in terms of I hope this shit doesn’t break down as it is also my house but then owning or renting a house also comes with different anxieties based on different things and the constantly moving around part I loved.

I am UK based and just parked where ever I wanted to a point, as long as I was following the sign posted rules for parking up no one would say shit, parking is a civil matter here anyway so even if I had chosen to park somewhere that I was supposedly not meant to it isn’t technically illegal if it was public land and the cops aren’t coming out to do anything about it.

That must be a US thing, aside from the initial cost of the van I saved an absolute shit ton of money living in a van full time and never had to worry about where to park or ever pay for parking.

It certainly isn’t free but it is affordable as fuck compared to disgustingly high rent prices.

I don’t know how long you have used Strava for but for how long I used it a lot of those features you now pay for used to be standard features that came with the app. You didn’t need to pay to get access to all those things and when you have been using features for literally a decade and then suddenly they are held to ransom it kind of pisses you off and makes you not want to use that shit any longer.

I’ll be honest I haven’t looked super into alternatives as of yet as I have only recently got around to dropping Garmin which was fine for me for a long time so maybe there is something out there already that fits my needs anyway :)
