I just wish they had better prices. I go there for weird hardware usually or if I actually need help but otherwise the prices are pretty atrocious so it’s hard. I have always loved those stores though once I was old enough to appreciate them lol.

I’ve literally never had a computer need drivers to make basic USB work in the past probably 20 years. I had a bleeding edge ai 350 framework right even when it came out. Linux was a little flaky with my sound but everything else worked. Same in Windows. Maybe I needed Wi-Fi drivers, don’t recall, but I know USB worked without any. I’m really curious how you needed USB drivers of all things genuinely. I mean you installed the OS presumably from a thumb drive so how would that not work in the same os after installing? Lol.

Sometimes it can help troubleshoot but you have to already know what you’re doing so you can filter out really stupid suggestions and get to the “oh yeah I didn’t think about that” kind of stuff. If you’re relying on it completely, you’re gonna have a bad time lol.

I am not even a developer but I’ve noticed tickets having a response written clearly by AI that miss several things I already talked to the person over teams about. Like dude read your own fucking comment before you post. The conclusion is wrong and you know that because we talked about it before you had the AI “figure out the problem” in the first place. Fuck. I know reading logs is really time consuming and annoying but the AI isn’t always very good or won’t just say “hey that log isn’t showing that I’m looking for” and instead just hallucinates something.

I don’t even hate AI, but could we at least use our fucking brains while using the AI? When it spits out code to me for my home projects, I, someone who is not a developer, still look at the code to make sure it’s not say running a loop that will hammer disk looking for 1200 files one at a time instead of pulling a directory listing and searching it or something very similar in the database I’m using. People have gotten so lazy. Maybe they’re tired of their bosses trying to force them and are providing garbage? I don’t know but can we just not? Lol.

IRC and Diablo 2 for me. You had to type fucking quick if you wanted to say something while your character was running to the spot you clicked on because you couldn’t click again until you finished and hit enter on that message lol.

It’s going to fail to provide the absurd gains these idiots executives keep claiming. Of course I suspect all the layoffs and stuff they’re doing, they’re just using “AI” as a cover for their own incompetence (over hiring during COVID among other things).

Thing is, I’m sure they do. But they’re middle management so they can’t do shit about it. Executives that think this stupid shit up have their heads so far up their ass they don’t understand how incredibly dumb their ideas for what AI does actually are.

It’s mostly because all the streaming services won’t give you higher res and HDR unless you’re using one of the boxes. You don’t need the slop tho. Nvidia shield imo has been solid for over a decade now. I’m over fire TV and those cheap shitty no name boxes are even worse. I have no idea why people fuck with those. Even a fire TV is better than that lol.

I don’t know why more people don’t do this. Don’t connect the TV to the Internet. Ever. Do updates using a flash drive if you must and connect whatever flavor streaming box you like. The TVs and their dumb os get slow and shitty anyway so why fuck around with it? Lol.

Kindles are cheap. That’s pretty much it. I don’t think it’s a great mystery. Amazon subsidizes their hardware to get you into their ecosystem even more.

Dude forgetting stuff has to be one the most frustrating parts of the entire process . Like forgetting a column in a database or just an entire piece of a function you just pasted in… Or trying to change things you never asked it to touch. So freaking annoying. I had standing instructions in it’s memory to not leave out pieces or modify things I didn’t ask for and will put that stuff in the prompt and it just does not care lol.

I’ve used it a lot for coding because I’m not a real programmer (more a code hacker) and need to get things done for a website, but I know just enough to know it’s really stupid sometimes lol.
