Technology@lemmy.world•ArsTechnica: Ads and tracking infiltrated TVs. Now they’re coming for monitors.English
14·14 days agoOr, as is the case with my Samsung monitor, they have Bluetooth always on.
Conjecture: This, I believe, is so it can find and talk to other Samsung devices that ARE connected to the internet and phone home.

Sometimes I feel like a grammar Nazi when it comes to meme use. But I just need to remember that I’m definitely right.
Meme Misuse, in my Lemmy?
It’s more likely than you think.
I’m seeing a bunch of toxicity in the milsim Arma. But based on a recent interaction, that has more to do with cross play with PlayStation users than anything else.

1·1 month agoWhile I do expect a pop, I’m not so sure about this take; How does the bubble popping devalue what you already have?
In crypto you’re left holding the bag, having paid $100 for something now worth 1c.
If you’ve produced a bunch of work already and AI company goes out of business, how does that hurt you?
So!
You might have some neurodivergence. I was diagnosed with ADHD (Inattentive-Moderate) and I recognise this situation.
You are happy and fulfilled by ‘parallel play’ where you are with someone but you are each doing your own thing.
It sounds like your partner is asking for dedicated quality time. With active interaction.
So here’s what you do: Buy LEGO.
Nothing major (at first). The Botanical sets are lovely. Then you pick an evening, put on some background music and sit across from each other building your own set and talking about stupid garbage.
Once you’re done, order some food in and cuddle on the couch with a comfy movie. (WALL-E, Spirited Away, Hot Fuzz. Something like that).Maybe, if you’re a giga-chad, you sneak some fancy dessert into the house earlier in the day.
What’s the saying?
Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen and football is a gentlemen’s game played by thugs?
Quoting your own message, “This guy makes a good point!”
Sure, start there.
Then start writing letters to representatives.
Then start helping with the campaign of candidates you support.
Then get promoted through the ranks of the org.
Then get an appointment when your candidate wins.
Then take bribes from massive corps! It’s win/win!

Technology@lemmy.world•Commodore listened, and the Callback 8020 is now $100 cheaperEnglish
14·2 months agoThe cynic in me is thinking this was an intentional marketing ploy.
- Price too high
- Outlets, outraged by the price talk about the features of the phone in detail, questioning how can this hardware cost cost so much
- Lower the price to your original (but secret) intent.
- Outlets now talk about how much more reasonable that is, how nice of the company to listen!
You get 2 rounds of media attention for the price of one.
If they want to, yes.
Ban anyone for coercing someone into or out of clothing.
Granted, I haven’t put a major amount of thought into the nuance, but the idea of making it a sin for some people to legally go outside is absurd.
The approach of these laws makes it so the victims of mistreatment are the ones breaking the law.
It’s like making it illegal to be homeless or illegal to have been mugged. It’s fucking outlandish.

Also, Apple was kinda dull under Cook.
Which is a weird thing to say when you have big swings like the Vision Pro. But the phones pads and watches really played it safe.
