As an individual, his LLM carbon footprint and money used to purchase AI services aren’t going to matter at all. But him being one of the world’s highest profiled software engineers who’s openly using these tools is very good publicity for them.

I think the anti ai crowd has been focusing on the slop angle too much, the horrible malpractice of these companies is the real problem imo. If it really is only slop it will die out by itself.

My 10 year old had started beating me at Chess, been practicing on Duolingo. It feels weird but this was the end goal, right? Having them surpass you and all. But yeah didn’t expect it to happen already.

He could’ve been coding as hobby before it I suppose.

If it’s his own products and no-one else needs to work that code I don’t see a big problem with it, but the ways I’ve seen agents treat a code base just to pass tests is horrible.

I hope he at least read them.

I’m a developer since 20 years and been trying out vibing godot and I expected it to have troubles with Godot but at least getting basic programming paradigms right but it has been more the other way around. I’m constantly policing it for hardcoding or creating unmaintainable messes where the base classes have exceptions for each child instead of them owning their own logic.

Often a series wrap up good in a season and I feel done with it. Like last of us and fallout, I just know season 2 will be worse. Then other times season 1 just sucks and I’m not interested in another for that reason.

I’m making a game and I just ai for parts of the code and and for assets currently. I make it because I’m 43 and been programming my entire life and yet never took the time to make a game.

If I ever were to release it on any store, I’d replace the assets with human made and declare that I’ve had LLM assistance in coding, no matter if there’s a role about it or not.

Basically I know it’s important to some people and I don’t want them to accidentally spend money on something they hate. It would be like sneaking meat into a vegetarian dish.

Twenty-five years ago I drove taxi for a few years and during training they were very clear that relying on gps prohibits you from learning. Taxi people knew that.

For the last fifteen years I’ve been a software engineer and in this field, the ability to pick up and maintain knowledge are cornerstones of the job. Having someone do your tasks for you will degrade your abilities to get said tasks done. CS people knows that.

Management however thinks that we will not need those skills in the future.

For all the data they have on us they sure are pretty ass at utilizing it.

It’s the phrasing of honouring or respecting the deceased that is the problem. If someone decided to kill and eat me and some weird afterlife shenanigan would allow me to be aware of it, I sure as hell wouldn’t find it honouring that they made a cowboy hat of my skin and guitar frets of my bones. Though it would be very metal.

Slaying an animal to utilise every piece of it’s corpse would be a more correct and honest take.

This has been the case since way before the LLM boom but it has definitely moved into a higher gear.

They banks wanted to keep their monopoly on the payment market and have no incentives to allow competitors.

Yeah but swish and BankID are owned by the Swedish banks and thanks to that they are not interested in partaking in many of the cross border systems as they don’t want competition in Sweden.

Sweden may be progressive in some ways but we are completely backwater when we allow the banks - who constantly get caught in laundering schemes - to control vital infrastructure.

They are also refusing to integrate their apps with “competing” id apps such as Freja. If the authorities expect them to profit from infra there needs to be regulations for these things.

Thing is lockdown and integrity checks are much stricter these days, and you can’t rely on these things to continue working either.

I’d have a backup phone to deal with id and banking.

If children sex dolls are readily available it risks normalizing the concept of sex with children. Both for potential pedophiles as well as children who browse shein, might get the impression that adults having sex with children is a thing.
