Possibly that’s related to me not knowing the term in the first place, because we don’t use British English here either. Or any English, for that matter.

Yeah exactly, we can only speculate, rather than claiming definitively that it’s one or the other.
(I do think that, if Linux was the more popular option, and folks would notice that most of the things they’re running under Wine, that would remove one reason for them not to switch to Windows. But yes, it will also be reason for others to stay on Linux.)

People should stop posting StatCounter, it’s so unreliable and noisy.
But I am surprised by the Cloudflare numbers, which are a lot more reliable, and still have Linux at ~5% worldwide, which is still higher than I thought! And even ~6.5% for the past two months, though I imagine that’s a seasonality effect - maybe Linux users in the northern hemisphere are more likely to use their computers at home during summer? :P
Well, at least we know we can still go on Lemmy for human interaction - appreciate the effort put into the drawing.

A step ladder is called a step ladder because of the steps, but here the author subverted that obvious meaning to have “step” mean that they are part of different families related by marriage, and then inserting that into the stepbrother trope I linked to above, resulting in an even more ridiculous situation than in the porn plots.

I like them all in their own ways - I chuckled at your “How do you expect me to eat this?”
I don’t think there’s another idea. I just think it’s funny to have the ridiculous concept of the wise old tree in such a fast-paced environment, drawing attention to how incredibly slow it actually is, and how everybody is otherwise not thinking anything weird of a talking tree being the chef.
Honestly their main downside. Especially that big piece that you just cannot break into smaller pieces.
And I think StreetComplete also asks you to verify that old info is still correct, and to correct it if not.
