linuxmemes@lemmy.world•The fact that you can’t run through Windows setup w/o internet and an online account is absolute bullshit
2·11 days agoIf you’re installing pro, you can just say it’s for work and click “join a domain instead” and then just never join a domain
I feel like there’s a game with that but I cannot remember what it is
MacOS does this too, so its not exactly a super whacky plasma exclusive feature

I accidentally made my entire home directory executable and I only backup individual projects on my laptop since it doesnt have much valuable data. that was annoying to fix
Yeah, but a lot less of the plugins are maintained now and teletype is gone
I miss atom, when it was discontinued I tried vscodium and immediately hated it, then used kate for a while, and now use neovim. neovim is nice but atom was just so good
Is a kettle really more efficient than a microwave? I would have thought a microwave would be best since it directly heats the water

Linux@lemmy.ml•Are there any other display servers aside from Wayland and X11 with its forks?

Linux@lemmy.ml•How to set resolution to a portion of a screen or just screen share part of one?
8·2 months agoUse OBS to capture your screen and manipulate it however you want and then use its virtual camera feature as your webcam for the meeting. If you want both your face and screen you could easily do a facecam in the corner in obs

Linux@lemmy.ml•Modest laptop arriving, what new Linux distribution should I try?
7·2 months agoI bought an old laptop to install libreboot on and I’ve been messing with Gentoo. I see the appeal now that I’ve tried it. It took me a couple days to compile librewolf but assuming your laptop isnt from 2013 I imagine things would build a lot faster for you

I honestly wish there was a way to consistently do something like the command key on linux, it’s so nice to have desktop shortcuts not conflict with your terminal. Haiku does it as well, they use alt.
