Absolutely, it’s not their problem or their business.

But the 2025 tax cuts saved just Facebook ~$11bn in 2025 alone. Meaning across all US mega-corporations there are trillions of dollars not being allocated in whichever way voters want, but going to pet projects and yachts because they have more money than they can reinvest in their business or know what to do with.

Just Facebook spent $80bn over ~10 years while paying less of their income in taxes than anyone reading this.

RAM has not come from China, and China isn’t exporting much of it yet. Unless Canada and the EU and Japan and everyone else is also handing out tariffs on Taiwan, Korea, etc like the US is, their point was the price of RAM doesn’t have anything to do with tariffs.

If we can reduce the shockwave from sonic booms that could directly lead to more efficient plane engines. The main current impediment they have is the tips of the turbine blades can only get so close to the speed of sound before they explode from the forces they’re experiencing.

They’re joking, but most of the US are “Right to Work” states. Meaning, on paper, you have the ‘right’ to quit your job without reprisal, but in practice the company can fire you without compensation. They owe for anything you’ve already done, but that’s about it.

I would be surprised if a cartridge being discontinued would kill an open source project like this. They could switch to a different cartridge.

I’d assume they’re doing the one for now because it’s cheap-ish and has widespread availability. There’s little reason not to expand to other cartridges once the rest of the printer is more stable.

Physical media has the inherent benefit of being difficult to remove from the customer. Because of the several thousand years of precedent and “argument” has lead to the current protections many countries have.

Digital distribution of Digital goods has significant benefits to the customer and producer over physical distribution. A lot of physical game media at this point is basically a license key and a mostly working game that needs downloaded patches they were still developing while the discs were being printed. The downsides are the current legal mechanisms and that a lot of people involved in the producing would like to continue to eat and pay rent.

I vaguely remember they might’ve done that later on? Maybe that was for the business version only. It was at least interesting that Microsoft was trying to directly compete with Apple for a while in having a whole ecosystem. I was waiting for more hardware because I liked metro on the phone, but then that all collapsed.

Really the worst part of 8 onward was the fragmenting of the settings, Vista you could at least fallback to the old stuff but they started removing old functionality. I get that they wanted to “update” from the control panel. But that it’s taken them 20 years, and they’re not done, and now neither the new system or the old system is feature complete, is fucking bonkers.
